Powder House Ski and Snowboard At The Gondola

After 30 years of snowboarding, it was finally time to ski. So many shops to choose from, I have the advantage of working for Heavenly and qualifying for a massive, on mountain worker, discount at Heavenly sports. However, I still ended up at Powder House. Their selection, knowledge, and desire to get me fitted right blew away any other spot in town. My ski boots are more comfortable than any snowboard boot I’ve ever owned, thanks to Bobby and Owen. In addition, the process of demoing and selecting skis was a blast. Love these guys!! Thank you so much.

Chaotic. Rude employees. Like chickens with there heads cut off. Noone knows what's going on. I made a reservation a week in advance and when I went to pick up my skis had to stand in line for over an hour. When it was my turn the guy had not even looked at my reservation and was getting me a snowboard when I ordered skis. What's the point of the reservation other thab wasting my time. Decided to cancel the rentals because I couldn't trust them. Don't even know the difference between skis and snowboards how can I trust em to set the bindings.

Worst experience in rentals.nI have been in lake tahoe for vacation once a year for the last 15 years and this is my first and last with powder house (main gondola store)nnMayority of employes are very rude including the manager.nThe most important things to consider why not to rent with this guys are:nn1.They dont do free valet overnight to storage the skis like almost every other place.nn2.They wont let you take breaks during your rental days. You would have to return everything and rent again the next day.nn3.And the worst they wont give you a receipt of what are they charging.nnI return days earlier and a lady told me she would return 106 dls to my card and i just wanted to know what where they charging and what where they returning.nnShe told me she cant give me that explanationnnWhen i spoke to the manager he told me that she was being kind because in the first place she shouldnt be refunding me any days as written on the contract even though they tell you otherwise.nnSo after managing to speak because he was always interrupting me, i told him that it was very confusing that some of them tell me one thing and then he tell me other.nnSo he finished by telling me that it was a miss understanding and that he is ok if i go with my family to rent next door.nnFor me this was the worst but i learn a lesson this guys are a lot of trouble when people are coming to vacation just to try to have a good time not to deal with people that are angry for something else.nnClonclusion: Unnecessary.

These guys really know what they are talking about. They do seriously good work, answer all your questions, and give good deals. They are really well stocked with the latest gear. Highly recommend. Its the best ski shop around.

Very unprofessional.nnMy daughter and I purchased two sweaters from an outdoor rack — there was a sign posted 1/$14.99 or 2/$19.99. Along with the sweaters, we got a T-shirt and three stickers. I was overcharged on the purchase (charged twice for the same 2/$19.99 deal). I didn’t realized it when I checked out, I caught the error once I got home. I went back to the store about a day and a half later (I was not staying in the basin so I had to wait to get back up to the lake) to tell them about the error. The two employees at the checkout stand were very friendly and when I told them about the incident and who helped me, they said ‘yeah that sounds like something Zack would do (accidentally)’ and one of them went to get the manager.nnThe manger came out and was immediately defensive, rude and pretty verbally aggressive, given the situation. I began to explain what had happened and she cut me off and told me I was wrong, that that clothing rack wasn’t where I said it was and it didn’t have a sign on it. I continued to try to tell her exactly what happened and how the man who checked me out had even asked me where I grabbed the items from, which is when I told him and pointed out the sign; she essentially told me I was lying. My 11 year old daughter was even trying to explain to to her what happened and the manager just shook her head and kept saying ‘no’. I asked her if she could call the employee to confirm and she said no. I asked her if there were surveillance cameras, which she told me no — this was not true because I spotted a security camera right above where we were standing.nnShe refused to refund the partial amount so I had to contact my bank and dispute the partial charge.nnI don’t even care about the $20 refund, I’m more upset that she called me a liar and was so aggressive toward me. Horrible customer service.
