The previous (elderly) homeowner hired Secore to do their roof. We ended up purchasing the house and immediately had trouble with leaks in one of the 3/4 of the roof they did (we can get to that in a moment). They installed the wrong type of shingles in the valley, which caused the leak. They returned to fix it. Now, a couple years later it is leaking again, directly into our attic. Now back to the 3/4 of the roof being done. Why not the entire roof? Nobody would ask for 3/4 of a roof to be done. Well I’ll tell you! There’s an old scam that roofing companies do, where they bid on the job for slightly less total $ than other companies would bid on an entire roof, but they specify in their contract that it’s only for 3/4 of the roof. They do this so that when they finish 3/4 and you ask why they didn’t do the whole thing, they can refer to the contract you signed that indicated 3/4 (or equivalent sq ft) and tell you that you’ll need to pay more for the rest to be done. This is well known in the construction world, and apparently Secore was totally comfortable doing “business” like this with a 90yr old woman.
They put my roof on in 2012 with the best quote around. Came on time and finished early. In 2017 we had a huge windstorm in Williamson but luckily only lost a couple of shingles compared to others who lost whole roofs. Secore came out sooner than expected and made all the warranted repairs. Couldn't be happier.
