The desk staff were very helpful.nThe first room I was assigned had not been cleaned, but they apologized and found a new spot for me.nOverall, clean and quiet, but close to various restaurants.
About 3am a non-stop snooze alarm was going off so loudly that it vibrated the headboard of my bed. This coincided with loud beeping sounds that sounded like a backhoe in reverse. The night manager came to my room and confirmed what I reported to him. He didn’t want to disturb the guest(s) in the adjoining room where the noise appeared to be coming from. He offered to refund my money but did nothing to put me in another room. Looking behind the headboard, there were potato chips and use ear plugs. I’ve utilized many Microtels. This one failed miserably.
First, I do want to say that the hotel lobby and room was very clean, and the woman at the front desk was very sweet and helpful. However, I can only give this hotel 2 stars because of the attitude of the man behind the desk. I was staying at this hotel with my service dog because my mom was nearing the end of her life due to terminal cancer, and my dog kept trying to do her job and wake mom up (she’s trained to do that and more for me because of my underlying medical conditions). I had left my dog at the hotel, so I could attend to my mom and upon my return, I found that my key didn’t work, and a note on the door asking me to see the front desk. When I went down to inquire what was wrong (thinking something must have happened to mom), the young man at the desk very rudely told me that my dog was barking for 5 hours straight, how I’m not supposed to leave my dog unattended (that part was never explained to me), how he had to move people into different rooms, etc. all the while, my phone is going off silently in my pocket. I apologized, and explained the situation, that I had left a note at the front desk to call me with concerns, that I hadn’t received a call, etc. I explained that my phone keeps ringing and I need to respond, and he just kept berating and lecturing me going so far to inform me that he can charge me for this incident and ask me to leave, but he said that he was nice and wouldn’t unless there was one more complaint. When I finally got the new keycard and was able to get into my room-I saw all the calls and frantic texts on my phone. Essentially, while I was being berated, my mom was dying and his lengthy lecture cost too much time, so I didn’t make it back before my mom passed away. I implore the management of this hotel to require sensitivity training for all its employees in hopes of preventing another Incident such as this. I agree and take responsibility for my service dog, but a phone call much earlier would have prevented this entire situation. As such, I do NOT recommend this hotel.
Good location. Wish there was a microwave. Had to order out. High price for that. The front desk Shinna? Was a 10 point front end evening manager. Should be given a raise. Telephones, laundry, customer service, etc...
We've stayed at the Microtel twice before when visiting family and had positive stays the past two time. The rooms were clean and comfortable and it was very budget friendly. This past stay however was miserable. First it cost my family of four over 500.00 to stay in a budget motel for four nights. Second the room was damp the entire time we stayed there. It was so damp the towels never dried and it was like sleeping in sheets that were pulled to early from the dryer every night. The air conditioning cooled but it never dehumidified the room. It was like sleeping in a cave. Due to covid they couldn't clean the room. The front desk never explained how how to get your trash emptied and I assume you'd have to call in to get dry towels. We don't usually require fresh towels daily but this time we needed them because of the damp room. The website said they had breakfast, but there was no breakfast at all. We did observe a guest going to the front desk and asking for bread to make toast. Again the front desk never told us that as we checked in. Don't count on breakfast there. We had to search around the hotel for trash cans so we could dump our trash. Yep, we paid over 500.00 non refundable dollars for this miserable experience.
