The Barn at Mary Jim's Shore

If you are looking for the PERFECT place to spend a week...you MUST stay here! This was our second visit; the first being in 2011 on our 25th anniversary. A few thoughts...First of all, the place is immaculate, quaint, peaceful and quiet. The pictures on the website are exactly as the place appears. It is meticulously looked after by the host, Eric, and his wife Betty. Secondly, anything you need, they will accommodate you. From firewood to cooking lobsters to cutting driftwood into manageable souvenir pieces to restaurant and sight-seeing destinations, they always steered us right. Everything they suggested was spot on. Thirdly, there are plenty of relaxing things to keep yourself occupied right there on the property; books, jigsaw puzzles, games, CD's of classical music, rock collecting, hiking the well-kept grounds, or visiting with the hosts. Simply lying in bed at night with the windows open to listen to the sound of the waves on the popplestone beach is one of the simple pleasures we remembered from trip one and truly looked forward to, and this return trip didn't disappoint! The pics posted are ones I took of the sunrise at 4:46AM on Tuesday from the beach right on the property. Fourth, there are plenty of places within an hour and a half drive that are worth seeing; from local to state parks to Acadia National Park, this area of Maine is a wonderland. The best part of staying at this property...? It always felt like HOME! Coming back from sightseeing trips, we always knew what we had to look forward to...a peaceful, quiet home with a cozy fireplace and the lullaby of the waves. Only one word describes it for us...special!

Superior! Fantastic location, great hosts, right on the beach. Fantastic self-catering accommodation with places to walk and relax. Photos do not do justice to the location. Even is a storm it is a priceless getaway.
