First time visit definitely recommend that you stop in for dinner. Classic dinner fair with wonderful service. Lobster encrusted haddock was very good hollandaise sauce was a little heavy but tasty. Topped with generous amounts of lobster and crumbs over the haddock which was a little on the dry side but very good. Louisiana Shrimp Diana was excellent. Plentiful Large Shrimp Angel Hair Pasta with Garlic, Cajun Spices and Butter sauce. The dish was excellent from start to finish. Rack of Lamb was excellent as well. The Vegetarian Ravolli was very good as well. Dinners come with appetizers, salad or soup , dessert, coffee or tea as well. Be prepared for an exceptional dining experience.

We ate greatly at the Whately! We live nearby & have been dining here for years. This visit we were in the tent. Nice fall afternoon. There were heaters nearby waiting for the evening chill. The chicken liver pate appetizer is my option of choice, my husband's is the cranberry frappe. Of course we add on the delicious scallop brochette appetizer. A nice salad is included. Although there are a lot of entree options we usually choose prime rib. It's not served every day but worth waiting for. Delicious! Then there's the au gratin potato choice, yum. Sometimes we take desert home other times we sit and enjoy with coffee or tea. The prices reflect an inclusive appetizer to desert menu. Prime rib bone leftovers make great soup. Yup, we ate greatly! Can't wait to visit again.

The food and service were Excellent but the decor left much to be desired. It was so dark we had to use our phones flashlights to read the menu! The rug was some thin cheap brown felt-like material that the chairs kept getting caught on as the rug wasn't stretched tight. It's an historic venue and really should have hardwood flooring. But again, the food was great and the service was very good.

Shame on you guys! A dear friend Lee Shumway, who suffers from ALS, a patron of 30+yrs, is unable to go there to dine anymore due to his illness was told he can't use his gift cards there for takeout orders bc takeout containers are too expensive!! The Whately Inn is well aware of his condition!! SERIOUSLY!!ud83eudd2cud83dude21 Gift cards are cash! If you dine in and take leftovers home... what's the difference?

Great meal... stuffed as usual. Staff and restaurant did a nice job of social distancing to keep patrons and staff safe.
