The kindness of the owner really touched me. We actually weren’t able to stay there due to COVID restrictions (and we were booking last minute because a snowstorm was keeping us from going home) and he was genuinely worried about our well-being and wanted to ensure a good trip to the area. He recommended another bed and breakfast, and we booked it, but if I ever come back to the Durham are, I will definitely stay here!!

Great people from the moment I called, Frank and Dolly were happy to go above and beyond. Happily shared a beverage from his personal stash while I was prepping for a wedding.. and they were both happy to share history or general knowledge. Very cool house, cars, and amazing people.

Our stay at the Blooming Gardens was filled with positive experiences including: the romantic charm of the beautifully restored historic inn, the amazing gardens, the delicious breakfasts, the exceptional hospitality from Frank and Dolly, the playfully hidden chocolates throughout the room and more.nnThe Inn and the rooms were clean, beautifully decorated and overflowing with eclectic collection of antiques.nnWhen I returned to retrieve a jacket I left behind, Frank and Dolly returned it in a nice bag...and then went a step further and added some Lindt chocolates. They just aim to please in every way.nnI found even the house cats to be very friendly.nnI highly recommend the impressive and expansive Duke Botanical gardens.

Inn keepers had thought of every possible need for each and every guest. This bed and breakfast is an absolute treasure because of the amazing owners and the perfect and stunning restoration of this 125 year old home. Every need has been attended to (despite the age of the home all modern needs are taken care of) and every nook and cranny of the house has been decorated in gorgeous detail with fascinating antiques. I had to go to Durham for an engagement party and this bed and breakfast was so wonderful I found it more interesting than anything I saw during my RUSHED stay in Durham (had zero time to really explore.) point is, I would go to Durham simply to stay there again and have more time to ask questions about the history of this gorgeous home and the lovely owners. you will feel as though you have all the creature comforts of being at home plus the chance to interact with the lovely innkeepers and at breakfast may meet some of the other folks staying at the inn which is a very enjoyable way to travel when you don’t know anyone in the city. No way could this place possibly be any better!

We had a quick, but nice stay at the inn. We appreciate Frank dropping us off for our show at DPAC. Dolly, sorry we missed you at breakfast! Thanks for the gift and note!
