Governor's Trace Bed & Breakfast

Nice little spot. Easy walking distance to sites. Comfy room, great service.

We spent 2 nights here, wonderful food and hospitality. The atmosphere and decor were historically enriching.

Good place, but breakfast was so,so.

This B&B is basically right at the east end of the Williamsburg historic district. It's a few minutes walk to get to Campbell's Tavern. It's located on a fairly quiet street on a good sized plot with parking behind the home.nnWe stayed in the Alexander Spotswood room. The wide angle photo on their website doesn't do it justice. It's a huge suite with a screened porch and a bathroom with a shower that's larger than a cheap hotel room in London. Mr. Lake brings breakfast up to your room--and that meal was excellent. There is a fireplace and candles in the room. Very romantic place. We really enjoyed our two night stay. The suite was clean and supplied with nice soaps, towels, and extra pillows. All the photos I posted are in the suite.nnThe entire home is filled with interesting antiques and decor. There were signs of needed maintenance outside, but that didn't affect our fun.nnOnly downside was the mattress, which was a very firm king. If we stay again, I will ask if the other rooms have a softer bed.nnSo we would definitely recommend Governor's Trace. When the owners/innkeepers retire, I hope the next people will be as professional and keep this B&B at the same level.nnThere is wifi there. It worked fine for me, but I mention it only because one other review actually gave one star based on phone reception! Dude, set your phone for wifi enabled calling. Geez, some people need a broader perspective.nnIf you find this review helpful, please say so.
