Erie Canal Motel and Cabins

The place is terrible. Absolutely the worst. Stayed there for about a year with my family. Bugs, leaks, and harassment from the landlord and her boyfriend. She is the worst kind of human being. Greedy, miserable, and stuck up. She wants to make others suffer the way she does. If you can help it; never stay here.

This hotel is highly bike friendly. Easy access to the rooms, big comfortable bed and a good tv. The owner is also quite understanding of our schedules and needs.nnI just wish food were a little closer, I was super tired when I arrived and ate camp rations rather than make the 2 mile trek to a restaurant.nn4 stars for the train. I slept through them, but no fewer than 3 trains came every hour and they aren't quiet.

This dump has bedbugs and scabies. Charlotte the landlord does nothing about the problem except blame innocent people and take their money. DSS needs to stop sending families in need to this horrible infested motel. This place needs to be condemned

Just a head up. When I planned a bike trip from Buffalo to Albany along the Erie Canal back in 2009, Google did not know anything about the Erie Canal Motel. However, as I was biking along Hwy 31 just west of Lyons, I spotted this nice looking mom & pop on the left side of the road and made a mental note in case I ever came that way again..nnSix years later in February of 2015 I'm planning another bike trip. Google maps now show it, but there seems to be no further information about it. An answer in reply to an email to the Lyons Chamber of Commerce said that there were no motels in Lyons.nnA telephone call to the motel solved the mystery. It is closed during the Winter while the owner escapes to Florida (can't blame him for that). He said they are open during the Summer. Since I will be traveling during July or August, I didn't bother asking the exact dates it will be open.
