Rice Mansion Inn

All of my friends and family who stayed at the Rice Mansion Inn were incredibly happy and impressed with the service they received there. (I reserved all of the rooms in the Carriage House).nnA few examples: One person asked for an iron, and Christine, the innkeeper, said she would be happy to find him one, but instead insisted on ironing his pants for him. When a group of people wanted to go swimming before our wedding ceremony Saturday afternoon, she directed them to a favorite local swimming hole, packed them a cooler and gave them a few chairs to take along. Christine also made FRESH breakfasts (pancakes from scratch, homemade quiche, local donuts!) both mornings, which everyone raved about, and even fed a friend not staying at the Inn who was disappointed that the hotel she was staying at had not served her breakfast.nnThe rooms at the mansion are spacious but feel homey, and in the carriage house, most rooms have kitchenettes with stoves and refrigerators (the carriage house at one time served as apartments). Each room also has either a futon or a pull-out couch so that 4 people can comfortably stay in one room. I would recommend the Rice Mansion to anyone staying in the area. (Especially over the Cambridge Hotel!)nnWashington County, New York is one of the most beautiful places in the North East, and the Rice Mansion Inn is a perfect place to enjoy it and get a taste of its hospitality. The hotel's decor is not only characteristic of when Mr. Rice the seed tycoon built the mansion, it's also a lovely display of the work of local craftspeople and artists.
