Sky Lake is a lovely little meditation and retreat center. Go for the teachings, the community, and the surroundings!

Medieval Tibeto-Shambhalian Fortress in Rosendale. A genuine sense of solitude and natural harmony prevails. The feng-shui of the property is auspicious for mind and body, and soothing especially for someone with a nervous disorder and/or deficient water-element in their (Ayurvedic) constitution. Not every meditator would want do a retreat here. However the property and staff are so well-presented that even a casual visit is well warranted for anyone with a deep love of contemplative practices or holy places. The original calligraphy of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche is prominently displayed. I could stare at it for hours. The only element missing from the Lodge's exceptional design is the large central hearth and monolithic chimney that belongs on the ground floor. Then perhaps the structure would embody the classic kiva/yurt/yogic avadhuti design more perfectly. Otherwise the building itself feels as much alive as most human beings, and viewed from the outside, clearly evokes past-life memories of Bhutan, Tibet or China.
