Gardens Suites Hotel by Affinia

The place this hotel shines is with their staff. From the first person who ran out to our car to assist, every single person we encountered was helpful, respectful and friendly. Each time we came out of the room or in/out of the hotel we were greeted with a friendly face and hello! No request was too great for them. The room was nice size and very clean upon arrival, the kitchen was well stocked. I only wish paper towels or napkins were supplied, not a big deal to grab a roll of your own.nnHowever, a couple of negatives that we encountered were the reason this stay was “good” and not “great”. The maintenance seems to be having issues. The sinks didn’t drain well and a couple slats to the outdoor fence were missing so I couldn’t let my dog off leash out back. It was a fairly warm night for November (60s) and the air to the building was apparently turned off for the season, the room was stifling hot. The staff did bring us a fan which helped but we still had difficulty sleeping due to the heat. Second, the website lists dog beds, dog bowls, a toy and the availability of pet beds as the reason for the 150 pet fee. None of these things are provided in room, the only thing I needed was pet stairs and when I asked they informed us this hotel doesn’t have any. They were very welcoming to my dog and I would definitely call the hotel pet friendly but I wouldn’t count on any of the amenities listed.

I stayed here last week while my husband was having surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering and it was not a good experience. I requested a quiet room away from the ice maker, elevator, etc. and was told I booked a junior suite with a king bed. The room had two double beds and was directly across from the elevator and next to the stairwell... so much for quiet. I realize it’s NYC, but they gave me a room facing the street with constant honking of horns and sirens - the only break was from about 1am to 5am... so much for sleep. The room had clearly not been vacuumed since someone’s medicine capsules were on the rug. All I wanted was a hot shower on a stressful day, but the shower didn’t work. The button underneath to direct the water to the shower head was broken and while I tried getting it to work, the tub filled up and wouldn’t drain. I called down and complained and they wanted to send someone up. No way. I was alone in NYC during Covid and didn’t want anyone in the room at night. No apology or compensation was made. Very disappointed.

Words cannot express how much we liked Garden Suites. 99/100 points :-) Staff was fantastic (special thanks to Chris & Nigel).. i mean really awesome. Had to stay to be close to Sloan Kettering and was perfect. Only demerit was from shrubbery on patio (come on guys, plants are supposed to be green and alive not brown and dead). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A large room by NY Hotel standards. Staff was very welcoming. Close to good dining options and set up for longer stays with kitchens en suite, food and restaurant options. Comfortable bedding, living room and dining area like a good sized NY Studio apartment.. Covid protocols practiced even provided personal masks, wipes and slipper pack upon checkin.

This hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood in upper east, very close to subway and restaurants. The front desk staff were very courteous and professional! They made sure to answer all our questions and provided extra help with laundry dropoff.
