Beautiful place. Swimming in the lake under the stars is a transcendent experience. The preference system to get a cabin is baroque... and if you haven’t been spending summer here since childhood it’ll be hard to get what you want.
Amazing. My annual vacation spot. Historic. Gorgeous cabins. 5-star service in a rustic setting. The food is amazing! Very friendly staff. Cannot say enough good things about it. Truly.
My family has been going here for reunions off and on for the past 40 years. Over time it has gotten less formal in the dining hall (people don't wear suits for dinner anymore but they still discourage Tshirts) but in general it is still very much the same place with the same activities. The appeal is that it is a vacation for the entire family (no cooking or cleaning), there is no TV, computers or internet, and we do the same things for fun now that we did way back then: canoeing, sailing, swimming, reading, playing board games when it rains, hiking, bicycling, tennis. It is fairly expensive but the place is staffed thoroughly to make sure all your needs are met so that all you have to do is vacation with your family.
Stunning location on Squam Lake. Comfortable housing but not luxurious. This is rustic for rich people. Great dining hall with tons of choices. Some of the best camp food you'll ever have. SO disappointed in the coffee situation. Since there are no coffee makers in the rooms, you have to make it more easily available in early hours and accessible locations or at the very least give us cups that hold more than 6 oz at meals.
Amazing retreat from the hectic pace of daily life. We want to come back and live at RDC! Our 7th year here with the whole family and it keeps getting better!
