USA Roof Masters - Michigan

I have never left a review on a website before but after my horrendous experience with Roof Masters, I feel obligated to warn those of you considering having Roof Masters install shingles on your house.nnI met with Cory regarding replacing the roof on my parents’ house. He told me how Roof Masters was a Platinum installer for Owens Corning and how all of his workers were professionally trained and were knowledgeable of the latest/best procedures for installing the shingles. He also told me that the work that Roof Masters did was warranted by the manufacture (Owens Corning and not just Roof Masters). Which was very appealing to me since the company that put the last roof on my parents’ house was no longer in business and therefore the warranty on the shingles could not be honored.nnThe house has a Gambrel (barn style) roof with almost vertical sides. I told Cory that I was very concerned about how the shingles on the sides of the house need to be affixed to insure that they would not blow off (which is the issue that we have with the existing shingles). I asked him this very question during our first meeting and at least two more times in subsequent phone calls. Each time, Cory assured me that he knew what needed to be done and that it wasn’t going to be an issue.nnI agreed to have Roof Masters perform the job and agreed upon a date to install the shingles. I met Cory and his crew at my parents’ house on the installation day but was informed by Cory that he just learned that a special procedure was required to install the shingles on the sides of the house. This procedure was going to take extra time which he was not willing to do and on top of that he was not going to be able to give me the Owens Corning factory warranty. Even though the shingles were delivered to the house and were sitting on the roof, Cory told me that based on the new information, he was not going to do the job.nnBecause of this issue, it is too late in the season to find another contractor and replace the shingles before the winter. Plus, the other contractors that I turned away when I decided to go with Roof Masters will not return my calls.nnThe critical takeaway of this mishandled situation Roof Masters is buyer beware. I think that if this contractor truly had been as knowledgeable and experienced as presented, the special procedures required to install shingles on a Gambrel roof would not have been a surprise to them and we would have new shingles on our roof right now.nnJim Covey (10/30/16)
