The Mayton

This hotel is stunning and amazing. It's a beautiful wow factor. The bar the restaurant the library the rooms the room service are all great.nThe only thing is that my husband ate breakfast there an shortly after eating his food which we had delivered to the room. He got very ill and very sick to his stomach. I'm not saying it was anything there but it did happen right after he ate their food. He had poached eggs bacon wheat toast and oatmeal with apricots and pecans and a sweet tea.

Very elegant, welcoming, and comfortable! My queen suite was PURPLE and elegant--not garish. The bed was luxurious, the bathroom had high end finishes, the sitting room was comfortable with sofa, chair, and large ottoman. The kitchenette included mini fridge, sink, microwave and ice bucket. The restaurant and bar served delicious food (I had the duck quesadillas at the bar for dinner and the shrimp and grits in the library for breakfast).nnI am only giving 4 stars because of the proximity to the train station (4 or 5 trains passed in the night and very early in the morning) and the windows have decorative black out curtains that can't actually close. But roller shades provide privacy and light filtration.nnOverall, my stay was wonderful and I would recommend and stay here again!

Very nice place to stay, staff was very nice and friendly and any needs of ours were handled right. The food was good and I would recommend that you try the short ribs for dinner, you won't be disappointed. Overall a 4 to 4.5 rating.

First off this is a nice place and I would stay again. So when you look at this review I am doing it as critical and not picky based on the price Of the room. The entrance and staff are unique, and Cary is so beautiful. I was thrilled with my stay. A few things stand out, though. Our room was a King suite it was very lovely and colorful, just like the rest of the hotel, but the pictures on the wall were not level and we were missing amenities in the bathroom. The furniture in the room and in the hallway looked very dated, almost like it was bought off Craiglist. Our shower was wheelchair accessible and was very awkward to use and with me being so tall the shower was very low we made our appt months in advance so I don't understand why this was the only room available to us when we were given a different room when we made the reservation and for some reason it was changed. Overall it's a nice place I do feel when you spend a considerable amount on a room, you shouldn't have to ask the front desk for anything they should check with you to make sure everything satisfactory this didn't happen we were greeted at check in and not spoke to at all after that. The restaurant inside is very good but the decor is none existent it's like we were eating in a fellowship hall at a church. We would go back to this hotel but we would look harder at other places first before deciding.

I give this review 5 stars after what began as a series of unfortunate events with our booking resulted in an amazing stay at The Mayton. Specifically, a huge shout out to Paul for his professionalism and compassion. He truly saved the day. The room was beautiful, dinner at the Verandah was delicious, and the tub to soak in was exactly what this mom needed during my weekend away with friends. Thank you again!
