Deerwoode Lodge and Cabins

My wife and I stayed at Deerwoode for our 10th anniversary. The owner is very nice, even allowed us an early check-in since it was off season! The resort itself is fantastic, upon check-in we were provided with a map of the resort. There were several walking trails, which went through a bamboo forest! Our cabin was right on the French Broad; cute, and cozy for two people! We will definitely be returning!

My husband and I recently stayed a Deerwoode. This is our third trip. It is such a beautiful place. Its like a peace of heaven. We also love to fish. We have always got something, bass, crappie. Six to seven ponds and a huge lake. If you enjoy nature and like different places, then we highly recommend Deerwoode. Brad and Cherri

I have been visiting the Mayes family at Deerwoode since the mid 80's. I met Matt at Wofford College and soon after spent my summers at Camp Deerwoode for Boys as a counselor. I can't believe what has been created since those days. Bill & Liz have truly dedicated their lives to Deerwoode and now that Matt & Andy have moved back home, the 175 acres has never looked better.nPeace and quiet is what people come to Deerwoode for these days and they are never disappointed. If you like to walk, fish, bird watch, sit on a porch, Deerwoode is for you. The cabins are exceptionally clean and most have a full kitchen. If you need to go into town it is only 2 miles away! Brevard is a really cool town too with breweries, a Music College and many shops and places to eat. You won't regret staying at Deerwoode Lodge & Cabins.

Our group of 10 stayed at Deerwoode Resort for a mini-reunion of friends from High School on May 25 - 27. Manager Matt Mayes worked with me via phone and we took the main lodge - Coyote Lodge - for 4 of our needed 5 rooms and the cabin right next door to the lodge for the 5th accommodation. Coyote Lodge has a huge open area downstairs with a beautiful working fireplace with rocking chairs surrounding it, plenty of tables for dining, a kitchen and the 4 individual rooms with individual baths for each - two upstairs and two downstairs. There is also a front porch with plenty of seating. The Mayes family could not have been more accommodating ~ they are multi-talented, love their resort and pride of ownership is apparent. Matt greeted all and made us all feel so welcome - in addition he made fires for us in the huge fireplace downstairs in the lodge.nnMatt and his brother, Andy, play music and sing in a kind of spontaneous jamming often on weekends. Our stay was on Memorial Day weekend, so they played on Saturday night outside the huge gym and game room building (another benefit which we used) and some of their friends were invited. Matt invited one member of our group to bring his guitar and he joined in with them. Deerwoode is such a serene rustic beautiful resort on 175 acres on which the family continues to reside. Matt's Dad and Mom built the lodge and many touches of art are in the cabins by Matt's Mom. The resort is a true gem in the North Carolina mountains. All in our group were very happy with our accommodations and we would definitely stay here again - equal to the lodging is Matt's professional, warm outstanding service. What a terrific place for our small group of good friends to reunite!nRoom Tip: If your group includes eight people, the Coyote Lodge can be taken for your group only.
