Candlewood Suites New Bern

Overall a pretty good hotel. Clean and convenient, nice staff, great amenities. Only 3 stars because we explained allergy problems and were told animals were only permitted on the first floor. Stayed on the fourth floor and most definetly had just previously had dogs in it.

Charged $150 smoking fee when absolutely no smoking took place in our room. General management is not providing proof of evidence and we had left the place spotless and more importantly DIDNT SMOKE IN THE ROOM. In addition, face mask requirements were not enforced, staff without face coverings allowing groups of teens without face coverings. My bf is type 1 diabetic and his safety was put at risk.

Nice place. Cost is good but they don't serve breakfast but there is free fresh coffee. Its hard to locate on google but you can find it. Rooms are nice and they have kitchenettes. Its clean and fairly new. Lots of local spots and shopping in the area along with the sights, and the downtown area, and of course Tryon palace. The area is rich with history. Plenty to do and the eats in the downtown area are good.

Very clean (I was concerned after reading other reviews). Extended-day suites with a small kitchenette, under-supplied with kitchen utensils, regular-sized refrigerator with ice maker (much needed during hot summer). Very accomodating to area residents when hurricanes hit. Entrance is hindered by barriers along both bordering roads, so be expected to circle around

The staff that checked me in and the one that came on after her was very rude. Talked to me as if I was a child. Making up rule that I've never heard of. Will never stay here again. I found the rule were only because due to race, especially from the over night staff member. And I order my rooms together which was two. They did not out them together but down the hall from each other. I have kids. Not happy at all!!!
