We had a similar situation like Nancy Nguyen except we contacted our attorney after they threatened us. Our attorney said that it wasn't even a contract. They basically lied to us and said it's a contract to lock us in but in fact it wasn't and wouldn't stand in court. Needless to say we went to a more reputable contractor. If this happen to you, contact an attorney. It's worth every penny.
