Salt Lake Plaza Hotel Temple Square

I'm writing this review after only staying one night. I will admit that out of everyone I have spoken to thus far, Roger is the only employee courteous enough to actually take his time to meet your needs. He was friendly, accommodating and even offered an upgrade to a bigger room for me due to my extended stay. Now what was troublesome and what I find issue with is that the website doesn't CLEARLY state that there are MANY amenities unavailable unless you search for them on the website. For full transparency they should have it noted on their front page. So be ready to pay extra to dine out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I understand not having room service available due to the current pandemic, but closing the restaurant entirely seems a bit much. I also completely understand not having the pool or hot tub available, those are non-issues for me. Another is not having their airport shuttle running, luckily the Green Line Trax light rail runs right in front of the hotel. My main concern is the lack of communication about food availability and the rude staff, aside from Roger. Someone mentioned this in another review but it seems as though all of the vending machines are sold out, except for Coke. The employee at the front desk this morning, I believe her name was Lupe, is very short, cut me off while I was speaking to her on the phone, and seemed very condescending in her tone when speaking to her. She didn't even try to find remedies for my situation or the issue just made a comment about "This is why our rates are so low." That's fantastic and I understand but she has no idea how to actually service a customer when it comes to issues.

Was here as part of an auction, clearing out rooms furniture that was previously student housing. Parking garage had incredibly low clearance. Getting access to the elevator required an employee with key card who were incredibly non-present. Simply hanging a key card if you can't afford to keep someone nearby would have fixed this. The entire experience was a headache, but the few employees I did interact with were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel was a great price and centrally located - we were able to walk to everything downtown. Don’t let the tired exterior and lobby fool you - the room (at least ours) was updated, modern and clean. The staff was helpful. They do charge for parking and we weren’t expecting that since we booked direct, so just be ready for that.

Nice place to watch the homeless on the street below chase people around.😂 Also the midnight scooter Ganges running the streets was pretty entertaining. Other wise the hotel rooms were really nice. No washcloths but lots of towels and just hope your not on the floors that you can smell the marijuana.
