Portland Harbor Hotel

They are rated 4 star but they hardly qualify. Small rooms, even at the suite level. And do NOT get a room on the 4th floor or the equipment on the roof will keep you up at night. No appreciable room service all though advertised. No valet on Sunday morning so it takes a long time to get your keys. Now let's move on to the bathroom, trying to be classy but not quite there. The shower has no power to it so you may as well be getting a bath but the tub again is to small. Moving to entertainment, there is nothing. Not even pay per view. There system is so old it might as well be from the 60's. Hope you packed a small kitchen as well cause there are no amenities for anything aside from washing my face, hands, and nevermind. Nothing anywhere, except for a single over run trolley on the second floor. Looking like it had made it only that far before it was discovered but the ravenous clientele.

We just finished our second visit to the Portland Harbor Hotel which is walking distance to literally dozens of great restaurants in Portland Maine, perfect for a foodie trip.nnKnowing this, the hotel's signature restaurant BlueFin North Atlantic Seafood goes above and beyond to impress with their menu.nnObviously their outdoor courtyard and fire pit is a great attraction to have for late night cocktails regardless of the weather. (And amazing photos.)nnPortland Harbor HotelnnStaying in a hotel in a city, you generally find someplace nice and choose it based on location. You rarely expect ambiance or novelties, which is why I like visiting the Portland Harbor Hotel. For our second visit in three years, both occurring in the month of November, we were able to use the courtyard much more as we had a slightly longer stay. The fire pit is large enough to accommodate more than a dozen people and is perfect for cocktails or morning coffee and donuts. (Complementary coffee stations on every floor and lobby. )nThe hotel and rooms have a nautical theme throughout, except for the suites (Photos 3-7). The suites have a sliding wall partition separating the bed from the giant tub and bathroom, allowing for easy viewing of the TV and fire place. These are designed to impress and I expect they are very popular around Valentines Day.nGet-a-way weekends are starting to be popular as they are designed with social distancing in mind, making amenities like these attractive and idea.

The rooms are lovely. There’s seltzer water available on tap for each floor. There’s an extra sense of security knowing that the floors with rooms are protected and cannot be accessed without a keycard. Every staff member I talked to was polite and professional and the location really cannot be beat.

Not the best but certainly not the worst place to stay. Great location. Room was meh, elevators were completely lame and stairwells are marked but say fire door only.

Staff was a bit stuffy but helpful. Dined in (one night) at the hotel restaurant and the food was really good but our waitress Audrey was AMAZING.
