MainStay Suites Hartford Meriden

Stayed here for 5 nights. We'll start with the good. It's a smaller, nice hotel with a very friendly desk attendant trying his best. Nice sheets, towels, etc.. Working kitchenette with 1/2 stove, dishwasher, sink, microwave. Elevators work, Hotel recently changed hands, can tell by the signage and decor throughout the place.nOnto the not-so-good, building is non-smoking, yet entire building besides the lobby always reeks of cigarettes. WiFi is weak, not strong enough to hold a zoom or stream any videos. Pretty much everything that was drilled into a wall to install (towel bars, shower curtains, etc) are about to fall out for what looks like the second time in most cases. I ordered a room with a queen sized bed.nOverall, this hotel is unfortunately exactly what we paid for. The cheapest in the area, good for a night or two, but after a while the not-so-good qualities start to get to you. Bottom line, spend the extra $10-20 per night to be in a better place.

Couldn't get in when my card was declined. I had cash more than enough to get it fully paid but they wouldn't accept it. I almost froze looking for a place to stay.

Travel 6 hours to get here and I show them Legit federal ID and they don’t want to accept it and the supposedly manager can even respect lgbtq so disrespectful I stay here every other month traveling for work and this service is the I get

Well. Everything looks fine upon arrival, and the staff is very friendly. However, we had no hot water 5 nights out of our 7 night stay (I mean ice-cold; thank God for the microwave, as I had to microwave water to do dishes), we were not given enough commodities to reflect our longer stay and had to go to the front desk for new soap/towels, as they were too understaffed to bring it to our 4th floor room. The entire hotel smells like cigarettes, and the wifi could barely load a webpage. The air unit is poorly regulated and could not hold the room at a given temperature, nor could we consistently have the fan on to buffer the frankly loud interior and exterior of the hotel. Had we not needed the absolute cheapest hotel at the moment, we would have requested money back and left by the second day. You should be ashamed of the establishment you're running.nnUpdate: I deleted my review to contact management and arrange a partial refund, and the woman in management treated me incredibly rudely and refused to accept responsibility for the problem. So I repost this review with the intent to report this hotel to the BBB. You cannot charge guests for a room without hot water.

Have stayed here for 3+ months. Xmas until now. For the first half of our stay it worked well, the hotel staff did their job and we were able to work out things to make it a more pleasent experience staying here. Im a first responder and they gladly gave me a discount on our rooms. I thank them heavily for that since we have just moved here from texas.It was peaceful and a quiet hotel. The turning point was after the hotel switched hands and more people began staying here, then it seams to have attracted the wrong crowd of people, the halls smelt like smoke, the cops, fire and EMS have been a constant coming here for incidents and crime. As of this moment there was an incident with our K-9, which has caused us to have to change the way we pay for our room from week to week to day to day because of them stating we would not be refunded. Due to this change and multiple confirmation that i was paid up until a certain day they have now said that someone else has booked the room that we are Presently staying in and thwt there is no other option because they do not presently have the same kind of room avaliable. They simply said sorry you either have to leave today or Go Into a smaller room if you wish to stay here. I end this with the note to save your money and find a different more hospitable option.
