Holiday Inn Boone - University Area

I gave 5 stars to boost their rating. I was Very impressed and they deserve a higher rating. Looks like it went through a renovation and the staff is very professional and hospitable. I only stayed one night but will definitely return for my next trip ski/snowboarding.

Paid $350+/night for an abundantly mediocre hotel. Guest services was pleasant to work with. Walls are paper thin. Relatively clean, though. A nice hotel would make a killing in Boone, but this one isn't it.

Clean. Nice shower products. Did the best they could with breakfast due to the pandemic. Wish we would have had a refrigerator in the room

Nice location. Friendly and professional staff. Very clean bathrooms and new beds. We stayed for a night and were very happy with everything the vital had to offer.

Before booking our stay at the Holiday Inn - Boone, University, we called to ensure the indoor pool was open and available. We were told yes but a reservation was required and only taken the day off. The hotel associate also told us it wouldn't be a problem to get a reservation for a swim session.nWe called at 8:30 am the day of our check in to find that the pool reservations were full from stay over guests and we would not be able to get a time to use the pool. We could not get a refund but we're also optimistic that there would be a no show or change by the time we checked in.nWe were wrong there was no change and were informed at check in that we would indeed not be able to use the pool. The associate checking us in was very apologetic and offered us a time in the middle of the day the next day (after our check out time) or said the night associate may be willing to leave the pool open late for us to use. I appreciated her empathy but there was no workable solution and the night time associate was not willing to make this accommodation (actually acted like we were crazy, plus our kids elementary age so that's late anyway but we were willing to do it). We checked back 4 times during our stay in hopes of getting a pool reservation for our kids but we're only successful at getting an apology and our number added to a cancellation list. Had we known or atleast been told that it would be difficult (actually impossible since apparently reservations are given in advance to stay over guests) to get a reservation for the pool we would have booked a different hotel.nWe are very dissatisfied with our stay and will not be staying at a holiday inn moving forward. I will pay double in the future to not have this experience.
