Colony House Motel

Stayed here over the weekend.. the manager was awesome, the room was nice and had the good vibe I wanted.. the building itself has been around since the 50s.. its been redone of course, but not to the point its lost that old school feel.. and i love that! The scenery was awesome to wake up too.. over all loved it and will stay again for sure.

I live nearby and have not stayed here but frequently walk my dog on the huge front lawn. It appears to serve a purpose for certain clientele types, and this will probably improve due to the soon to open hiking trail that's directly across the highway, (250), which leads down to this awesome tunnel that goes completely through the mountain...the trail is perfect, beautiful, clean. The Colony motel probably was this clean about 50 yrs ago, looks like it could be a cute place...* ATTENTION: PHOTOS ARE NOT OF COLONY HOUSE, THEY ARE OF BLUE RIDGE TUNNEL HIKING TRAIL. Very good location near the south entrance to Shenandoah N.P./ north entrance to Blue Ridge Parkway. No place to hang clothes. Pool is closed. Shower/ tub has jacuzzi feature. Very good size TV but limited number of channels. Older style hotel. Bed had cushions for easy reading. Staff very friendly and helpful. They brought coffee maker into room. Room has mini fridge and microwave. Nice lounge chair,couple of chairs and plenty of lights.

The rooms are clean but a little worn. The wi-fi is painfully slow - just good for checking email but nothing else. It's convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive but that's the only thing special about it. It's overpriced for what it is. I guess the other good thing is the rooms have a refrigerator and microwave as well as a large flat screen TV.
