Izaak Walton Inn

Awesome place to stay. Rooms in th lodge are a little bit small, but the views are great and there are some good amenities. Cross country ski and snowshoe trails in the winter are nice and well groomed. Some are lighted as well. The restaurant is very good as well!

When we arrived we ended up having to wait to check in because the staff was cleaning our room. We stayed in a cabin and it was dirty upon entry! Cheese and crumbs on the floor cobwebs, spiders, dead bugs filled the window seal and the pillow cases were a yellowish color. For the amount we paid for the room we kind of expected way better quality. Food was way over priced for the portions you got and how bland it tasted.

This place is amazing! Everyone from our 9 year old to our 72 year stays entertained. Hikes, train watching, great food, and board/card games pass the time away while enjoying each other's company. We enjoy traveling here via Amtrak. Do yourself a favor and stay in a caboose on the hill or the locomotive, you won't regret it. Truly a place where time stands still so you can catch up!

We stopped to have lunch on the porch on a beautiful fall afternoon ud83eudd29. Impressive view. We first tried the Buffalo and Sweet chili chicken wings appetizer; the sweet chili is definitely great! We also had fish and chips, which was tasty and cooked perfectly and the Thai peanut chicken wrap. The wrap was interesting but not something I would get again. The flavors didn't really go together and I had to ask for peanut sauce because I couldn't taste any. This is a great stop along route 2. (This photo is from down route 2; not at the inn)
