Hampton Inn & Suites Columbus-Downtown

Okay... I travel a lot for work and always read reviews before booking and the reviews are always worthless. Who cares how “nice” the front desk person is? Seriously, here’s all most people would want to know about this particular hotel and what I wish people would cover when reviewing hotels. Lots of food within walking distance, very clean rooms, doesn’t look or feel old in the room, the beds are very bouncy and comfy and not one of those awful memory foams that feels like you’re sleeping on soft concrete. When you first see the room you get the impression it was recently redone or just kept very nice because there is no peeling wallpaper, dirt or mold on bathtub caulking. Just a nice room, nice place.

Location is perfect to the convention center and restaurants. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Will definitely be staying here again.

Lobby is very nice, the room and bathroom were really nice, the bed comfy, but traffic noise and building noise all night. Not a bad experience, but felt like I paid a premium to get some nice amenities and a mediocre night of sleep.

My stay would have been fine if I would have actually stayed at this location. I reserved a room for the weekend of 3/26, adding my daughter to the list to be able to check in. I even paid for the room in advance so there would not be a problem. My daughter gets there to be told that she could not check in. No reason given. I called and spoke to the front desk manager Mito, telling her the situation. She told me should investigate and assured me that the charges did not go through. She even told me that she was going to give me a call within 24 hours. Low and behold - guess who card was charged? I called back, after the timeframe had passed and had not heard anything from her. When she finally got on the phone, she told me she needed to speak to the employee who turned my daughter away, but that the employee CALLED OFF from work. Mito was very snippy, and I asked her did she think I was not telling the truth? Who would call and make up a story like this? She was adamant that she needed to investigate. She also said that my funds would be refunded in 3/5 days. I asked her to transfer me to her boss which is Matt, and guess who I still have not heard from? If this is the kind of treatment that a silver member is receiving - how do you treat your gold or platinum members?

Room was nice ...But Clifford was the Best...He is a credit to this hotel....We were here for a Wedding...and there were quite a few people that said if they came back to Columbus..they would stay here because of Clifford....
