Kittery Inn and Suites

STAY AWAY!! My boyfriend made reservations over a week ago for a private cabin through Airbnb. He had to send a picture of his ID and a person had to look at it and confirm the reservation. Upon arriving, we were rudely turned away for being 18, despite his ID being seen a week prior and being accepted. When the manager came out to speak with us, the first thing she did was question why we were staying for one night in an accusatory tone. Despite her attitude, we answered for vacation. I took days off from work to get out of the house and relax and sightsee in Maine. She was very condescending, treated us like children, and absolutely did not deliver good customer service. She said she would be “keeping an eye on us” so that we “stay out of trouble.” I drove an hour, took time off, and planned this outing only to feel like I’m being watched by the manager. There are cabins on the property that are single rooms, and also larger ones that are two rooms separated by a wall. Although we booked a private cabin, we were put in one with a room next to it. The front desk did not help correct this mistake and said that no one was staying in the other room. Also, no money is being deducted even though this is not the room that was reserved. This is very suspicious because the majority or cabins are empty and we booked a PRIVATE CABIN. I’m fairly certain that the manager is going to be going into the next door room. Additionally, the manager argued that is was OUR fault for coming and booking a cabin, even though Airbnb allows for those 18 and up to make reservations. Supposedly, the Kittery Inn and Suites has a 21+ policy, but we booked through the Airbnb website which does NOT say anything about that. In fact, their Airbnb “house rules” section says nothing about being 21+, but the manager was extremely rude and argued that it is plastered all over their website. She said we should have directly spoken to the owner, which doesn’t make sense because again, a picture of his ID was sent and approved. I feel like I have no privacy, and this place had no problem taking our money, but every issue with two adults booking a room.

My husband and I came to Kittery to celebrate our anniversary. The Inn was the perfect place to stay as it is super convenient to explore southern Maine and Portsmouth, NH. We stayed in a king suite which has little kitchen area with table and chairs, mini fridge, microwave, stove/oven and as a tea drinker, I loved having an electric water kettle. I wake up earlier than my husband and was able to make a cup of tea and sit out on the balcony enjoying the quiet morning. The room was clean, spacious, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was fine, the shower/tub combination was large and good water pressure. There is a small glass shelf above the sink which is too small to keep any toiletries outside of your toothbrush. Not a complaint, just had to keep my makeup etc, in the nightstand. The grounds were nicely kept with plenty of flowers and the pool was a nice addition which we used one sunny afternoon. Also enjoyed a cocktail one evening in the gazebo. The staff were pleasant and helpful with recommendations. The breakfast is a light breakfast with hard boiled eggs, muffins, fruit and yogurt. Oddly, there was only coffee offered, so even happier to have the tea kettle in the room.

Clean and friendly service, and a surprisingly large spread for the included breakfast. Didn't go early enough in the season to know how the pool was, but they do have an outdoor heated one ud83dude42

I want to use this review to say how much I, and an as of yet not known amount of others, appreciate the low priced roadside motel. Do I wish motel prices were back in the 90's? Of course. Who doesn't?nYou can look at room prices and when you see a number below a certain amount, we humans are programmed by our pasts and biases, to think of something priced, what may seem, very low. In fact if the rental capacity stayed up when priced lower, owners could and a lot would be lowered.nThanks for letting me tell everyone how much that property means to, not only tourists and truckers but also, local working class people who are being priced right out of portsmouth and Kittery. I know we're not going through this alone but we kind of are. Due in no small part to the coronavirus.
