Haven Hill Resort

This is a peaceful and beautiful family resort, set on a quiet lake in Northern Minnesota. There are 4 cabins for rent & several spaces for campers. They have a nice swimming beach and boats to use.We love Donna (the owner) & the many memories we have made at Haven Hill!nnTo the reviewer who left a 1-star review (& apparently had their friends or family leave 1-star reviews): It is a bummer you had a poor experience. It’s also a bummer to leave multiple one-star reviews- that is a dirty way to play. If you had a bad experience, fine. Leave a 1-star review. But to have several different people leave 1 star reviews ,with no explanations, is an abuse of this review system and is defaming Donna and the business she has worked her entire life to build. That was not nice and in very bad character.nnI believe Donna and Haven Hill Resort is a testimony to what years of hard work and love can create. She and her family have poured their hearts into this business and it shows! Haven Hill Resort is a special place and appreciate the changes they are making. I most certainly will continue to enjoy this beautiful place!

It was a great place until the last few years when the owner passed away and his daughter took over managing the resort. Yes, there were additional rules, but that wasn’t an issue at all. It is the manner in which the rules are communicated or not communicated that is the matter of contention. If she has a friend or family member that wants a spot, she will target and harass the current renters until they leave - even people that have been renting there for 15-20 years with no issues, until now. And many of the other reviews are from those family members. It is sad because the owner was a gem and is probably rolling in his grave at the manner in which she treats people. He was a great communicator! They will lead you to believe that rules were broken but they were never communicated and were not in the rental agreement. She has used half-truths to create a false narrative and make it look like what she is doing is “right”, but you can decide. She simply wanted other people to have that spot and that is fine, but then just be honest and say that. There are 2 sides to every story, that is true, but there are just a lot of family leaving the good reviews. It broke my heart to see how she treated the people I love, including my parents and children. It could have been approached so much differently. I just hope she gets some education or training on effective management so that other people don’t have to go through what we did.

We joined the resort community a year ago and couldn’t be happier. The lake is beautiful, management is outstanding and equitable, and the resort itself has been in the family for over 100 years. You cannot find a better spot in Minnesota that matches the affordability and friendliness of Haven Hill Resort.nIf you don’t enjoy your time and find happiness at this resort, it is your own fault!

Haven Hill prides itself on being a family- run business that has been in our family for over 100 years. Multiple generations return to Haven Hill each year to enjoy the calm of the water, fishing, family, and friends. Within the past few years, there have been improvements with guidelines and contracts that were written for the campground so that everyone who camps at Haven Hill can enjoy it equally and responsibly. The contract is signed by the seasonal camper for the season and it is an agreement between Haven Hill and the camper. We are a licensed campground that follows the rules and regulations of the State of Minnesota The reviews that were written from a negative point of view are based on campers who have chosen to not follow the guidelines of the contract of Haven Hill Resort and have had multiple warnings about not following the guidelines. Change has occurred at Haven Hill and campers have appreciated these changes and the guidelines of the contract. This place has held so many special memories for me, and my boys.I feel like family every single time I am at Haven Hill! It has a beautiful beach and play area, my boys gave so much fun with all the other kids there. 10/10 a must stay. Thank you to the wonderful family that continues to run this establishment and welcomes us with open arms every time we drive in.
