Karinall Estate at the Lake

For the past several Christmases, my husband's parents have been giving the Gift of Time to their children and grandchildren. They choose a special activity that brings us all together for making memories. Now that some of the grandchildren are married, we are a group of 24 and Karinall was a wonderful setting for our 2019 family gathering.nnI'd like to come back to enjoy the water on some warm summer days but even in the winter, the lake provided loads of fun. The cousins cleared an area on the ice for a broomball rink and the outdoor competition began. I was able to watch all the excitement from the piano bench as I sang and played Christmas music.nnThe house has so many neat spaces that we could spread out and not feel like we were on top of each other. With the fireplace going, the great room was a perfect spot to cozy up for a good conversation. At the same time several family members could play a board game in the library, while others were in the theatre watching a movie and still others were in the rec room playing billiards or relaxing in the jacuzzi tub.nnI personally enjoyed all the themed rooms based on classic books, with the most unique being The Secret Garden which had a hidden door behind a bookcase. When I asked what our sons liked the best, they immediately stated that the many little nooks and stairs throughout the house made for the BEST game of hide-and-seek.nnThere was ample seating for mealtimes between the tables in the kitchen and dining room, but we were challenged to find one room that held all 24 of us when it came time for a white elephant gift exchange. We ended up clearing out the dining room and sitting up chairs all around the perimeter, but it was snug.nnOnce again Grandpa and Grandma's gift of time provided many opportunities to make memories and we thank Karinall Estates for the unique space to gather.

This place is amazing! My husband and I went there with my in-laws, and I was so impressed. The hidden rooms for the children are just darling.

This is definitely an amazing bed and breakfast. It is very impressive how much thought and love went into each room. I highly recommend this place for a retreat or a vacation. It would be an amazing place for a gathering of friends, family, or coworkers.

This place is amazing, and so fun!!! We have toured it twice and are sooo very excited for our stay here this fall. It is amazing how fully furnished it is...just bring food, clothes, and toiletries...they have supplied the rest!!!

This place is beautiful and the hosts are lovely! We held a bridal shower with about 20 people. There was plenty of space for everyone, and we loved exploring the many different rooms in the home.
