Beautiful old Maine farmhouse with friendly, attentive hosts. We were simply looking for a place to stay the night before a winter hike of Old Speck Mountain and normally would have slipped out at dawn, but we were so charmed by the place that evening--and tempted by the lovely breakfast--that we stayed for the full breakfast, which was everything we thought it would be from Darlene's description. Would stay again in a minute...and will if we come to ski Sunday River.
We had a wonderful time. The hottub was awesome, all the animals on the property are sweet, and the food was delicious! We got in pretty late Friday night, but the fireplace was still blazing and there were cookies, wine, beer, and baileys/frangelico to go with some hot cocoa waiting for us. All the little details in the Rose Room were lovely, took a nice hot bath, slept awesome in the big comfy bed, and can't wait to come back. Breakfast is relaxed, she puts out a diverse and delicious spread at 8 but no pressure to come down at a certain time or talk to anyone before you're ready/have had some delicious coffee. Charming historical farmhouse in a beautiful setting of looming mountains and gentle fields. The animals were a plus for our grandchildren. The rooms were comfortable and very quiet.
Had a fantastic long ski weekend here. The inn is charming and Darlene was a wonderful host (and chef). Would not hesitate to come back or recommend to friends. Thanks for making us feel so welcome!
My wife and I stayed here from the 2nd through the 5th of Aug, I can't begin to describe what a great experience we had, breakfast was phenomenal, (dining table could be a wee bit bigger). Very friendly atmosphere, comfy room, even has a small fridge with your choice of beverage in it. Really loved it!
