Currently there is serious construction on the street. Book way ahead, offer to pay a holding price. Once the construction is done you won't be able to get a room. The location is walkable to downtown and campus and on a public transit route to everywhere. You can take the train, and bus to within a block. A Victorian era Queen Ann, a front and back porch with an meticulous housekeeper and groundskeeper. Great to host and house small weddings! Unitarian church across the street.

First off, this is the cleanest, most dust-free lodging I have ever experienced. The appointments are impeccable. The hosts are friendly and generous. Sylvia's elaborate home-cooked breakfast will hold you through to a very late lunch. And the period atmosphere in this Victorian mansion (carved furnishings, lace curtains, elaborate crown molding), with a distinct theme in each room, will charm your socks off. The two suites (King and Queen) have en-suite bathrooms; the other rooms share bathrooms (2, so crowding is not a problem), which lends a European feel to the experience. The Inn is within walking distance of campus as well as a number of other venues (rec hall for contra dancing, The Iron Post for live jazz, a fantastic international market two blocks away). The Unitarian church is just across the street, and the Green St bus line ($1) stops at the front door. All in all, an excellent deal!

We stayed in the king suite which was wonderful. Sylvia is a delightful Hostess. Breakfast was delicious. One word of warning however relates to the parking. They have no off-street parking and failed to inform us that parking on one of the streets during certain hours can result in a ticket. The only sign informing drivers of this restriction is located one block away. Thus, we ended up spending $25 more than anticipated.
