Greasy Creek Friendly

Great hiker hostel, friendly people. This is their home and they open it up to hikers and basically treat you like family. Very reasonable prices ($15-20 for a bed depending on your lodging choice) and decent resupply options. She made us complementary homemade grits in the morning. They have 2 big friendly dogs, so only stay if you are good with that.

Very interesting hostel. Quite a ways off trail. Very affordable, but you get what you pay for. They have a lot of rules which isn’t that big of a deal, but made me feel like I couldn’t relax. Also extremely extremely cluttered. I’m kind of a neat freak so piles of things and clutter give me anxiety. Lots of things you can buy to drink and snack on in the hostel. Daily trip to Dollar General but only so many people can go. No cell reception, WiFi in and out of the main house but unavailable in the shared bunk area. Had my laundry done for very very cheap, but had to wash it again when I got home because it all still smelled dirty. The owners are very very sweet. I would have left more stars if it wasn’t so cluttered. Wouldn’t stay again

Two visits here: one, me: miserable hiker, down off trail, just want shuttle. They let me use their phone to call for shuttle, nice talking meantime. Next, left car for a week, nice evening stay pre-hike, car was fine. Reasonable prices, chill vibe. ud83dude01

My son is hiking the trail and could not Express how much he enjoyed the owner. Quote from my son . She was the nicest woman I ever met. Made the best grits for me and my laundry actually smelled good. Thank you for taking such good care of my son.
