My husband received the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on 3/10/2021 at Walgreens. An appointment was not made for his second dose at that time. We were informed that this was not possible. This is bad practice because the vaccine is a series that must be completed for greater immunity, the timing of the doses is important to response, and the vaccine is in high demand and appointments are constantly full. We were told that we would have to make his next appointment online. He has logged into his Walgreens online account frequently to attempt to schedule an appointment. Each time, he was informed that it was too soon, that he would be able to schedule an appointment on 3/30/2021 (today). He logged in today and received the message that there are no appointments within 25 miles. He called the store and they informed him that all of tomorrow's appointments are full and that he should call back tomorrow to see if anyone cancels. He asked if he could make an appointment for the next available time. He was told no, to call back tomorrow. Why are appointments not being reserved for second doses? Myself and the rest of my family received our vaccines from other entities and our second doses were scheduled at the time of the first dose administration which is the responsible way to handle this situation. We were able to receive our second doses with no problems. It is very frustrating that we are having to deal with this situation for his vaccine and it seems completely avoidable. Please reconsider your company's irresponsible scheduling policy and include members of the healthcare community in your discussions related to vaccination as I suspect that this is not currently being done. In a time of increased stress, community members should not have to be worried or stressed about trying to ensure they are receiving the care they deserve from an entity that is supposed to contribute to community health. Also, I tried to submit this in a form on the website but the form would not submit, so I am posting it here.
