Holiday Inn Express & Suites St Charles

The good: friendly staff and clean room, bed soft and comfy. The bad: tv sits too far back on the stand and is bolted down so you can't move it closer, the cable network is meh and the remote would not bring up a guide to show what was on so you are stuck just flipping through channels. The shower water was lukewarm even though I had it turned all the way to hot. And the curtain kept sliding down one side while showering. The mini fridge in my room was cold upon check in but the next day my sodas were barely cold.

This was our second time staying here this year. Except for the shower/bathroom, we've enjoyed our stays. The rooms have been clean, quiet.nnThe first time, the water pressure was low in the shower and the bathroom door was installed crooked so it got stuck against the floor and wouldn't shut all the way. We got through it no big deal.nnThis time, Sunday night the water was barely warm, then Monday morning we had no hot water at all. Since we booked through an online travel site, I didn't expect much from the hotel. But I did mention to the gal at the counter about the water, she apologized for it, looked up our reservation, noticed who we booked through and immediately offered $50 off and took off the taxes. Like I said, I was NOT expecting anything. We thanked her, and told her we would be back.

The hotel felt welcoming. The staff was friendly and the room felt cleaned. With Covid still got on, everyone I saw was wearing masks and breakfast to go had to be requested at the front desk. It looked like most amenities were still closed (Feb 2021).

Nice facility. Clean rooms. Swimming pool. Etc. Check in at 3pm and out at 11am.

The pool was closed, they said because of Holiday Inn/covid...This is not true. I've stayed at multiple ones during covid & pool was open. Lazy or lying? Room wasn't clean, there was melted ice in the ice bucket...Toilet didn't flush well, shower head leaked & didn't spray correctly, drain was in need of repair...Loud location too. Not their fault, but the planes & trains is something to consider. Plus side? Close to soccer fields...Each time we came in/out, front desk was empty or I would have spoken to someone. When we left, there was a young man that said thanks for staying.
