Vandiver Inn

What a gift! My husband was so kind to surprise me with an overnight getaway - a “mom-cation” if you will! Not only was the Vandiver the most cozy spot but the staff was incredibly friendly and informative making me feel at ease, especially during these unprecedented pandemic times. The room was adorable, clean and welcoming. I had an opportunity to eat Chef (and owner) Susan’s food and it was so delectable. Really unique! You could tell that she took great care in her work and menu planning. I chatted with the (other) owner John and it was crystal clear that my comfort and satisfaction was truly at the top of his list. These two live to serve and really get great joy from doing so. In the days of so many “cold” corporate options for lodging it was refreshing to feel the warmth of this boutique establishment. Definitely come and see what they have to offer! You won’t regret it.

We love the special dinners at the Vandiver Inn: beer and wine tastings and most recently, the Robert Burns dinner. Wonderful! Chef Susan's dinner was amazing (even the haggis!) and our knowledge of scotch was greatly, and deliciously, expanded. Thank you, John and Susan and excellent staff. We're looking forward to the next culinary adventure!

I've had the pleasure of staying at the Van Diver and attending multiple weddings both as a pure guest, and part of the wedding party. Van Diver does everything with elegance the evenings are carried out with immaculate precision and accuracy. The food is always stellar, and the rooms are clean and while historic, they are quite cozy. I would highly recommend Van Diver as either an overnight stay or to make your wedding day go off without a hitch.

We attend several events at The Vandiver throughout the year. One of our favorites has become the tradition of a Burns Night supper. Unfortunately, we could not make it this year. However, we were able to do the 2Go option. Like everything John and Susan do, the supper was amazing! My wife and I agree that the menu offerings were plentiful, prepared to perfection, and may well have been the best Burns supper yet. A true gem in Havre de Grace. Salinte!
