Courtyard by Marriott New Orleans Covington/Mandeville

This place is great. They always have nice rooms at affordable prices. My wife and I had to stay here recently while having a remodel done on our home.

Poor example of a Marriott. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Window in our room had green algae that looked like it had been there for years. Cold breakfast. Our room appeared to have been freshly painted but if that was a bathroom remodel...it was a FAIL! I stayed in a Best Western and Holiday Inn earlier in the year and both far exceeded this hotel.

The hotel is very clean and staff was very friendly upon check in. It does need a few upgrades, but overall is very nice. It is only getting 3 stars however due to a non refundable pet fee that is NOT advertised. To make it worse I even called the main booking number for Marriott prior to placing my reservation to ensure they were pet friendly and inquire about fees. (We ended up having to travel over Christmas and I am babysitting my daughters dog, we don't normally have to deal with traveling with a pet, so it is new for us.) I go to check in and I am told there will be an additional $50 NON REFUNDABLE pet deposit. Merry Christmas ud83dude12ud83dude44. I totally understand if hotels feel they need to charge a fee. My problem with Marriott is, if you are gonna charge it, then advertise it! $50 extra dollars for 1 night at a hotel can be devastating to those that travel on a tight budget and it is not planned for. We stayed with another hotel chain on Christmas Eve in Shreveport with the dog, and guess what... no hidden fees, no surprises or pet deposits required. The lady at the desk who checked us in was apologetic, but was doing what management told her to do. I don't blame her, I blame a management who apparently, recently decided to make the hotel pet friendly and then failed to advertise any additional fees associated with that. I posted a screen shot that shows the amenities. Pet friendly is listed, with NO additional information or fees associated. They list internet, fitness center, parking etc. Those are all free, why would I assume there would be a deposit for a pet??!! We are purchasing a boat here in this area, and will be back at least 1-3 more times before we can move it to TX. I will not stay here again, even though we will not have a pet on future trips. I won't stay due to the fact I feel they are dishonest in their representation and advertising.

Very comfortable! Beautiful color theme. Pretty Mallard ducks and several water fountains.

Would be 5 stars if the room came with a microwave & a working phone. However, the Manager accommodated us by providing a microwave for our room. Not sure why one doesn't come standard in every room.
