We had a very positive experience at this Marriott Residence Inn. Our room was clean, quiet, comfortable and both well furnished and equipped. The staff was friendly, polite, and helpful. It's tucked away in a nicely landscaped office park with good options for walking the dogs. There's plenty of restaurants nearby. We recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
**GUEST BEWARE - EXCESSIVE FEES WILL SIGNIFICANTLY COST YOU - THEY MORE THAN DOUBLED THE COST OF MY STAY**nnMarriott needs to understand, something that sounds great in a corporate boardroom may not translate well to your guests / customers. I stayed one night (2/2/2021) at the Marriott Residence Inn - Covington LA.nnI booked the stay through one of the 3rd party travel apps I use on a regular basis. In booking the stay, the hotel mentioned being “Pet Friendly”. Within the terms of the booking, it is non-refundable and they do mention in the small print “You'll pay the hotel directly for additional charges, like room service or resort fees”.nnThis did not bother me as I have dealt with this on other occasions.nnThe hotel single night booking, including taxes, cost $95.35.nnOn this trip I had my 10 lb mini dachshund along for the trip and thus why I booked a pet friendly hotel.nnOn arrival to the hotel, they had a small sign on the wall stating:n“Pets Are Accepted Upon Request”n“Pet Policy In Effect”nnNothing else as to their policy or fees were stated, posted, or provided.nnOn check-in, the desk clerk asked if i was traveling with any pets and I informed her of my mini dachshund.nnIn response, she tells me they have a pet fee of $100. Including tax, it is $108.70.nnTHE PET FEE MORE THAN DOUBLED THE COST OF THE SINGLE NIGHT STAY, TAKING IT FROM $95.35 TO $204.05.nnNow I have many times paid hotel pet fees, they generally run anywhere from $20 - 50, but never have I incurred such an unreasonable fee, policy, or desk clerk.nnI explained this was a single night stay, the dog was only a small 10lb mini dachshund, and their fee more than doubled the cost of my stay. The desk clerk then told me I could just check out and the hotel across the street was only a $40 pet fee so I could go stay there. This was not going to work because my booking with them was non-refundable, so i would then be in a position of paying for a second hotel.nnMy little mini dachshund causes less wear and tear than any human. She sits on laps and sleeps in her little bed.nnThis entire experience was costly, horrible for me as the guest, excessive, and unreasonable.nnIf this fee is set and known, at the very minimum it should be provided in advance. There is no reason a hotel is able to clearly advertise thor room rate, yet can’t provide their standard pet fee when they are advertising themselves as a “pet friendly” hotel.nnIn my nearly 20 years of constant business travel, the Residence Inn in Covington LA was the most PET-UNFRIENDLY HOTEL I have ever come across.nnDo not advertise yourself as “Pet Friendly” if you are going to use this as a guise to financially abuse your guest.nnAbout Me: I almost never leave a review of any kind. In rare instances I do leave a review it is most often because of an excellent experience as I do not like to negatively reflect on any business or their staff. I travel nearly 50% of the year for work. I stay in hotels on all of my travel. I am well-versed in hotels, air travel, rental vehicles, fees, booking, and all things related. I am also able to identify when a situation is just wrong. This was wrong. Marriott should take steps to remedy their policy so as to better serve the needs of their guests.nnKind Regards,nM. So, the location is great- BUT, the bed is horribly uncomfortable, the pillows are old, microwave was dirty my wife had to clean are room AFTER we requested housekeeping.nnThe staff is SO UNFRIENDLY, we asked for a simple blanket & instead got Fussed at bc our mask wasn’t over our noses. Any time you ask them questions, they act like you are the biggest inconvenience to them & they hesitate to face/speak to you. It’s just poor quality customer service. That’s not all, but I don’t feel like continuing.nnThis has been such a poor experience, We are currently still here & we are 2 nights into are stay; we cannot wait to leave & we will not be returning to any residence inns any longer.
The room was outdated .The chairs were noticeably dirty with stains you could see.The couch had stains all over it.The sofa pillows were smelly so they stayed on the floor the entire time we were there. The coffee maker in the kitchen was molded with the old coffee left in side. When I called the front desk ,she sent up someone who bought another but she asked me why I just didn't come to the lobby to get my coffee.I am on oxygen but felt that was none of her business.nThe beds were comfortable and clean and so were the bathrooms. The couters in the kitchen had crud on the back of them.We did bring clorox wipes and was able to wipe stuff down ourselves.I was very disappointed in this 2 bedroom suite. This was room 208.
Overall clean but all 4 coffee cups from cabinet were coffee soiled! Like they did not get clean in dishwasher and were put up like that! The TVs all 3 of our 2 room suite had dark screens making them difficult to see, like they were too old, cheap, dying!! Beds super comfy. Great rates.
