Private cabins nestled in the banks of the Lower Kimball Lake, this is a lovely spot for a quiet, rustic getaway. 1 hour south from Duluth, Mn, KLR has trails for hiking, a small private Sandy Beach, and a friendly campground dog. The cabins come fully furnished, minus the food.

I was introduced to this by a buddy that had been coming up here over 20 years. I've been coming up over 13 years now myself and just cant say enough good things about it. The proprietors are great, the cabins are clean and personable, and if you know what you're doing - the fishing is outstanding....

KLR is fabulous! If you are looking for a cabin that is more upscale with comfort in mind, this is the place. We love that when it rains, we have the comfort of staying dry. We can cook indoors or outside. The light housekeeping is super easy; where else can you totally clean a cabin in half an hour? We have enjoyed the other cabin renters, too. Fishing and loons--that's what it's all about, folks! ud83dudc4dud83cudffc

We've been going to Kimball Lake Resort for almost a decade now, and it's been a wonderful experience every time! The cabins are cozy and comfortable and they have plenty of privacy. The beach is just the right size for kids of all ages. The couple that run the resort are very friendly and approachable, and as long as you're not getting out of control, they don't bother you about late night noise or anything like that. They also have a very sweet dog named Max who loves to come visit you at meal times in hopes that he'll get some scraps. He's very polite and is not right in your face while eating, but rather sits there and patiently waits for scraps to be dropped or set down for him. The only downfall of this resort, at no fault of the owners at all, is some cell phone companies get little to no service there, which can be frustrating. However there is free WiFi to use while staying there. It's decently fast unless you have a lot of people there connected to it, then the speeds seem to drag a bit. That's about the only improvement I would like to see happen, an increase in their WiFi speeds and coverage. Everything else is wonderful!
