Westward Manor

Professional, responsive management. The unit I rented was well maintained, other than a few minor issues. New appliances are a plus. Common areas (hallways, basement, foyer) are usually visibly clean, but often smelly; upstairs hallway smells distinctly of urine sometimes. Biggest issue here is noise pollution, both inside the building and from outside. Tenant in unit below mine frequently plays loud music, despite repeated warnings from management. South side of building faces a Kwik Trip, so there's lots of traffic throughout the night—be prepared to be woken up in the middle of the night by loud music from passing vehicles. Since July 2019 there has been a group of people that frequently congregates late at night in the Pizza Hut parking lot across the street and plays extremely loud music; repeated calls to law enforcement has done little to deter them. Not a terrible apartment complex, but these issues have made living here rather stressful.

These are nice looking little apartments but they are unfortunately managed by an irresponsible slumlord. I was a tenant for five years and even in the beginning I'd ran into long-time tenants who complained of the landlords disrespectful behavior. I didn't have any bad repour or negative experiences with management up until my apartment got bedbugs last July. I immediately informed management seeing as in 2007 I'd experienced them living with a gf in Milwaukee. Right away she began accusing me of bringing them in and explaining that she'd refuse to tenew my lease until I paid for half the treatment. This was of course after she said she'd have the apartment maintenance guy Luther spray which we all know isn't going to be effective without a professional exterminator. She of course got upset and a few days later, my neighbor confessed that two years prior to my moving in, other people had, had them. She evidently complained to the landlord because following our conversation Joanne, the owner had called up preaching about having a responsibility to her tenants and finally reluctantly agreed to my suggestion previously of a full heat treat by a professional...not just the maintenance guy. The treatment was done in July of last year on my second floor apartment but around May they had come back. Again the landlord was refusing to pay for the heat treatment and threatened to take legal action. I read the laws and realized, not only would she lose the case, but probably get sued for negligence seeing as both she and maintenance admitted that three other people had been dealing with bedbugs in these same apartments since at least January. Despite this, I was labeled the cause and not only did she not renew my lease, she stuck me with the full bill and after a second treatment following, told me she'd only get rid of the bugs after I was gone. So basically, she didn't care that I was a good paying tenant for five years being forced out in 30 days, but she also was willing to wait an entire 30 days for them to reinfest and spread to other areas plus infect any future residence that I'd move to. Anyone who willfully destroys someone's livelihood and endangers other tenants and businesses has absolutely no right to own property and manage it. I'm very disappointed in the dishonorable, childish conduct of Westward Manor's management. My advice, ...Don't move here unless your a gluten for needless drama.

Management are really great to their renters!
