My stay here couldn't be any better.nThis campground doesn't have electricity or water and you have to drive on dirt road, but it is worth it. WnI camped right at the edge of the cliff. In the morning I could see bald eagle catching fish and lots of beautiful scene. I loved it.

Lots of great birds and bird sounds. Hawks playing, eagle sounds, loons in the middle of the night. Humid when I was there. The mud and rough road might bother some but rustic campers ... no problem.

I have certainly stayed in worse campgrounds, but since most of the reviews are positive, I thought I'd share the less good things of Point Detour.nnThis campground is very difficult to get to, long gravel roads that are poorly marked, so make sure you're paying attention to the map. You cannot pay in the campground, so after deciding which site you want, you must drive to Red Cliff and pay at the hotel desk in the casino.nnThe sites are tiny, I wasn't sure which were campsites and which were spots to park, and the fact that maybe a third of them were missing signs or had signs placed in areas that had overgrown made it very difficult to tell where I could set my tent for the night. There is little privacy between you and your neighbors, you are very close to each other.nnThe maintenance of the site varies widely. Some sites are fantastically kept, others are overgrown and looked untouched for years. One site, 17, had a picnic table that had been shattered to pieces and no firepit save for a blackened patch of ground.nnOverall, this is a decent campground for short overnights, and is close enough to the Apostle Islands to be a good backup for other, nicer sites, but if you mean to stay multiple nights, you might be best served elsewhere.

Booked for 4 nights, currently on night 2. The campsite is 25 minutes on a dirt road. The pictures online would make it seem as though it's on the water which it really isn't. Theres trees everywhere impeding any water viewage. 1 or 2 campsites might actually be able to see the water. Campground advertised there would be firewood, however there is none. If you are planning on spending most of your time in bayfield and surrounding area camp closer.

This is a rustic campground. Small, quiet and beautiful..
