18 years coming here. It's not about fancy modern cabins. you have the essentials you need. Great sandy beach and owner is relaxed/ laid back.

I have been going here for 62 years. I have known all the owners.nThey were all good but Bob is the BEST! Westwind isnt meant to be an all inclusive secured fortress vacation. It is like being able to go to the beach every day and enjoying the beauty of Lake Namakogan. The cabins are supposed to be rustic housekeeping cabins, not a suite at the Ritz. You are not supposed to be in the cabin anyway, you should be out on the Lake! Think about this for rustic...the first 3 years that I when to Westwind (1958 thru 1960) there were no bathrooms, just an outhouse, no shower. There was a pump at the kitchen sink where you could pump cold water into a pan to heat on the wood stove that doubled as a heater. Then my Grandmother would make the best bacon and pancakes...on the wood stove. There was no actual range.nWestwinds beautiful sand beach out weighs anything negative you may think about the rustic cabins.nGo for a swimnTake a boat ridenGo water boardingnGet an inter tube and just floatnRent a boat and skinSit on the beach and enjoy the beautynWestwind is meant to be a place to hang out while you enjoy the splendor of Lake Namakogan.

Love this place, just wish the mattresses were decent. The resort has been quiet, and it is definitely a family place. People go to bed early, and it's nice and quiet. (of course that may not always be the case but I think Bob tries to keep it that way) overall, it's a nice place. Super small bedrooms and outdated cabins but if you're not picky this place is great. There isn't a main office/shop unlike most resorts, so make sure you get everything in town.

Can I give ZERO stars? Very old, run down cabins. You're better off pitching a tent. We rented two cabins for ourselves and our adult children and grandchildren. Mice in one cabin...many. It was infested. Had to move out....couldn't stay even one night there. Plumbing in another cabin wasn't working. We had to rent a room at a nearby resort because it was uninhabitable. Owner promised compensation/refund but we were never given one. We were then moved to two other cabins. These were better, but even then they were filthy and old. We all left early. We love Lake Namakagon, but will never stay at WestWind again. The only positives I can give...great views, nice beach, decent boats to rent.
