I am writing this letter about my most recent experience with one of the choice hotel providers. I made a reservation for the Quality Inn in Quechee Vermont for August 9th – August 14th. I have been coming to this same hotel with my family since I was a teenager and now it has become a tranquil vacation spot and anniversary vacation for me and my husband. I have never had a bad thing to say about this hotel until today.nWe have been anxiously waiting for the opening of the hotel so we could book our annual vacation. I checked almost weekly on the website but at the time reservations were not being accepted because of the Covid pandemic. In June I saw on the website that the reservation dates had open and was so excited to finally book my reservation. I made a reservation through the hotel phone number. I informed the reservationist that there would be two people (my husband and me) and our disabled dog who must travel with us because he needs special medication twice a day. He made the reservation and said that the dog would have to be added to the reservation at the time of check in. I was satisfied with that since we brought our dog with us last year and had no issues, so I was not worried. I planned on calling the hotel directly, prior to our vacation to have him added to the reservation like I did before. I called the hotel directly to get the dog squared away on the reservation. When I called on Tuesday July 14th, I talked to Betsy, who was very pleasant, and she informed me that they just had a meeting and were determining whether they would still be allowing pets. She took my name and number and told me she would call me on Friday July 17th. Today, Friday July 17th I called the hotel around 1:00pm and spoke with another woman (not Betsy) who was not very warm, and she told me that they weren’t accepting reservations with pets. When I asked her about reservations that were made prior and the only consolation, she offered was to help me cancel my reservation. (could use better customer service!)nI understand that Covid has changed many aspects of daily life, but I strongly think that this whole situation could have been handled differently. I think a change in the pet policy should have been determined prior to the website opening for reservations. Also, to this date the website still reflects that they are pet friendly and none of the covid precautions listed on the site state that they are not allowing pets due to cleaning issues. VERY MISLEADING. Secondly, if I had not called the hotel to check on the reservation then we would of arrived not informed of the pet policy change and would of wasted hours driving to the hotel only to have to drive back home. Additionally, based on the terms of the reservation I would have only been able to cancel the reservation one day prior to our scheduled time of arrival (August 8th) and we would of not been guaranteed a refund on any of our reservation days had we not know about the change in the pet policy and arrived there on August 9th.nnI am so upset that my husband and I won’t be able to take the vacation that we planned over a month ago and with only a couple weeks left before our vacation dates approach, many other hotels have already been booked for those times, so we are out of luck. I am sure that I will not be the only one this season that this may happen to. Hopefully, people check their reservation prior to their arrival with a pet or end up like we did. I really loved the Quality Inn Quechee but sadly I do not think that I or my family will return, and I definitely pass on my experience to others. I would hate for them to have an experience as bad as I did. I would hire more people like Betsy and less people like the other lady.

Great bang for your buck! Rooms all enter from the outside, so it's very pet friendly. The staff were all cheery and helpful. As mentioned many times, the breakfast really is good! Lots of variety, and for the early risers, it opens at 6!!! Will definitely be back, as it's only 45 minutes from Killington.
