I often travel to Rutland for work. I generally don't stay as the Hampton but the hotel I normally use was full. I attempted to check in but the young man at the front desk was shockingly rude. I would never stay at a hotel that would treat a guest.....or anyone....so poorly. If you need a hotel in the Rutland area, stick to Days Inn or Holiday Inn. I've stayed at both and the staff have never failed to be friendly and helpful.

I had made reservations here to stay for a weekend away with my spouse. The day before we were to arrive I received a call from the hotel and was INTERROGATED over the phone. Amazingly enough, I'm not exaggerating either, full interrogation. I was asked no less than 6 times to confirm we had quarantined for 2 weeks since we were coming from out of state. We did quarantine, as inconvenient as that is, because we really wanted this weekend away, but he would not believe me and basically called me a liar without actually saying that specific word. I stay at hotels for business frequently and I have never been made to feel so unwelcome and just spoken to like I was a bother to them for making them interrogate me. It made me so uncomfortable that we ended up canceling our trip because of the dealings I had with the staff, both the clerk and the general manager. We will NEVER stay at this establishment even if it was free or they were paying us to stay there!!!!nIf you're from VT, I'm sure you're fine, but if you are from anywhere else, you are clearly not welcome and not wanted at this hotel!!!!!

Great experience here again. Wonderful front desk staff – very accommodating when we asked to have a room near an exterior door on the lower level. Traveling in these times is different. The room was clean and COVID sanitized. We felt safe there. Can’t ask for more!

Perhaps this rateing is not totally fair because the State of VT would not allow us to sleep in their state. Guy at hotel was very nice. Not hotel or employees fault. This is more of a rating for VT. For now (8/2020) if you're from Texas, don't count on staying the night in VT.
