Red Fox

Very well planned spacing opened between diners with a new tent and new concrete patio beneath. Plenty of lawn space with picnic tables besides. Good live music on selected evenings.nGood food. Will have to revisit to have their fish and chips. Wanted to try their famous apple pie but they were out of apples! A beautiful spot. Haven't seen their lodging.

We called the Red Fox Inn to ask whether we could bring our 2 dogs with us for outside dining. The person that answered the phone informed us that the inside dining was closed because of Covid but we would be allowed to dine outside with our dogs. When we got to the restaurant a dog that was not on leash went up to sniff our dogs. The dogs started growling and barking and after we were able to get the dogs separated the proprietor informed us that dogs were not allowed. We explained that we had called before driving 45 minutes and were informed dogs were allowed. When I pointed also out that it was THEIR dog that was off leash, not mine, and THEIR dog that had become aggressive, the proprietor, a squinty mean lady with crazy eyes said to me “You’ve been here before. Your that problem customer”. I explained to her that I’ve never been to the restauraunt before and I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. We left the restaurant and I just now started reading other reviews here on TripAdvisor and it seems suggested from other reviews that this proprietor tells customers as a matter of regular course of business “that she knows them and they are that problem customer”. Very strange experience to say the least. Clearly the proprietor is not well. I kinda feel bad for her but at the same time her business is in the service industry and in 2020 you simply cannot treat your customers this bad without taking the risk of garnering a negative review ... which is what this is. Bad experience. Stay away from this place.

Great food. Friendly staff. Beautiful setting!

We've had several lovely dinners in the upstairs dining area over the years. This last visit, we really enjoyed the scallops, chicken, salmon, and duck. Attentive waitstaff for a relaxed dinner. Such a lovely ambience with the fireplace and rustic furnishings.

Loved this place! The burger special was amazing. The burgers were delicious and the fries were crispy. It was a really good deal. Servers were nice and attentive and refilled our water frequently. Ambience was great.
