Short version: 2 tellers were not knowledgeable enough to help me. The second at least had the awareness to ask their manager for help who quickly unblocked what they identified as an issue (but wasn't). Full version: I wanted to take out US funds from my US account that I had transferred on the same day from my RBC US to RBC Canada through cross border banking. The first teller I saw said they couldn't see where the funds came from in my account so they couldn't withdraw the US amount for me unless I logged into my online banking to show them. I didn't have my password off the top of my head to log in right then and there (as well RBC US doesn't have an app). I said I would go home to obtain that information, so I did and this time I had to wait in line for about 10minutes. I saw a second teller who said the same thing about not being able to see where the funds came from so I logged into my online banking right there to show them but then they said this wasn't enough. They then asked their manager for approval. The manager came and said to look up my history and there was a label that showed I transferred the amount via online banking so I could withdraw the US funds. This could have been achieved with the first teller had they known to look up my history in the same way. I kept my calm throughout this but I felt disappointed and upset internally. Along with this particular instance, I will not be making RBC my primary bank moving forward (the monthly fees with poor customer service and upsell is not worth my time).

From Toronto to Vancouver, RBC in general is probably one of the worst banks I ever dealt with. Therefore I wanted to move my assets elsewhere because their customer service is lacking and there’s no benefit from this bank. They’re always judging me from the moment I opened my account. For some reason they always think that I’m a fraud person and asking me a million questions to verify me when I’m just trying to move my funds to another account I have elsewhere. They charge so much money for every single thing and can’t waive a one time fee for something I’m only doing once before closing my account. Customer service is very fake and comes with a lot of attitude. Will never bank with RBC ever again.

So bad experience here. Slow like a worm. Waste time here.

This is the 2nd rbc to misinform me on how I go about getting my bank account unfrozen. I finally made it to my home branch and their debating if they want to keep me as a customer. I'm fairly ready to leave rbc but I haven't banked with anyone else for a long time. Someone committed fraud on my rbc card and I've spent a solid 3 days waiting in covid line ups getting the run around. Time to step up your game rbc.

Whenever I go to any Bank's branch that is huge like RBC, I prepare myself to wait more than expected. I'd say that in most times that I have been in No. 3 & Cook Rd. Branch, I had to be in line and wait for my turn - why? Because I understand that each customer has requirements that needed to be attended to, and the front line needs to provide the excellent service that each customer in front of him/her deserves! I was a teller in my past life, and I understand that excellence cannot be rushed. Thus, if I have little time in my hands, I would rather pay my bills, move my funds, and deposit my cheques online - the RBC app is powerful these days. If I need to withdraw cash, I would go to the ATM. I would only line up in the Branch if: I would deposit cash, request drafts, inquire about more services, etc. or see my Advisor. Hence, my experience with this Branch and any other RBC branch is a 'breeze'. With regards to customer service, I find the front line very courteous, and sweet at times - so I can't complain. :-)
