I’ve been ordering small model parts and supplies through the mail recently and I’m so glad that I have a local post office I can lean on to help me.nnI’ve been building models of all my favorite local above-ground pools. The trick is to actually make it water-tight, which might seem easy, but you’d be surprised. It takes a little more than a cut up balloon and some 2-part epoxy to make a working model above ground pool. It sounds crazy, but I think you really can tell when a model pool has been made to spec, and when one is shoddily made and will never hold any water.nnI also want to emphasize the importance of above-ground pool models. Anyone can use an ice-cream scooper, and building a model of a hole in the ground is boring and CREATIVELY BANKRUPT! I know that there are some other people in the area who think that their model pools are just sooooo cool, but I think it’s stupid to be proud of something that can be accomplished with nothing but a block of foam and a hot coat-hanger. TRY BUILDING A MODEL OF AN ABOVE-GROUND POOL IF YOU WANT A REAL CHALLENGE, NANCY! TRY BUILDING A REALISTIC-LOOKING PUMP INSTEAD OF JUST PAINTING “PUMP HOUSE” ON A STORE-BOUGHT MODEL SHED, GREGORY! THE HOUSE DOESN’T EVEN HAVE A SHED, GREGORY! YOU’RE JUST MAKING THINGS UP SO THAT YOU HAVE AN EXCUSE FOR YOUR LAZINESS!nnAnyway, I’m glad that I have a local post office where I can send and receive the supplies I need to pursue my art in an uncompromising and untainted way.
