Nice people that work there. Love it thanks
The post office is unique because there is little roadside delivery. Most mail business is by post office box. The problem is the hours...office hours are erratic. There’s a break mid-day the time of which is difficult to remember. They close well before evening. Opening is later in the morning. New staff is sometimes hired but the open hours are never stabilized nor are they expanded.
Flat rate boxes are the best deal to ship your island goodies / souvenirs back home. At least to the US mainland. I shipped my goodies the Friday before flying home Saturday morning and they arrived Monday afternoon on the east coast.
Both of the postmistresses at the Naalehu Post Office are wonderful. They always have a smile ready, and are happy to help you with your mail- wonderfully patient.nUnfortunately, Ocean View Ranchos does not have a working post office in OV, so a lot of us drive to Naalehu, putting extra work on these fine ladies. Mahalo!
