I have lived downtown in SLC for years but I always come to this post office because of Linda- she is the best postal service employee. She is so nice and gets everything done quickly. The parking here is easy and the line always move fast. It’s usually faster to drive here than wait in line somewhere closer to me.
Horrible service by two clerks workibg there today. A US Post Office is a public government service .Let customers receive services and ask questions without post office staff denigrating them.
I had just moved to a new apartment and was expecting a few packages. I needed a mail key since my complex lost it and they didn’t have another, so I needed to have the box re-keyed. I went to this PO on a Thursday and brought my lease, ID, etc so I could have it re-keyed. They said no problem, our key person only does it on Wednesdays, so until then just submit a request to hold your mail and we’ll have the carrier bring the mail from your box back to the PO so you can have it. I do so. I’m asked if I’ve forwarded my mail, and I say yes, I did it a month ago online. “Well let’s fill one out just in case, sometimes online can be shoddy.” Ok, no problem.
Next day I go in to pick up my mail so I can get my packages. The lady (Lyuda, who apparently has a history of being unhelpful) tells me there’s no mail for me, which can’t be possible because it’s been three weeks since I got my mail and knew I had at least three packages delivered. She says “sorry, I don’t see a pink slip with your name on it to hold your mail.” I tell her I filled it out yesterday. She says they don’t have one, fill out another. Did you submit a forwarding address request? Yes, I submitted it online a month ago and on paper yesterday. “Well, it looks like we don’t have one. Fill one out.” Fine. I fill out both AGAIN and leave empty handed.
I come back Saturday, the next day. Request my mail again. “I’m sorry, I don’t see a hold slip on your box.” !!!!!! “Are you sure you requested it be held? Are you sure you forwarded your mail? Let’s have you fill one out again. ” YES. I’m sure. I’ve done it TWICE now. “You must not have, because we don’t have a holding slip.”
Now I am a very patient person. I worked in fast food for four years. I know what customer service is like. But...not only the incompetence, but the disrespect and rudeness and presumed stupidity I had received up until this point had me at another level. I just let out a long, deep breath to keep my cool, stood for a moment, and calmly explained my previous experience up to this point.
I then showed them the email confirmation that I forwarded my mail, dated a month ago, and assured them I had been in the previous two days and filled one out both times.
They have to call out their manager to verify that they have the forwarding request input, who confirms it was submitted a month ago. Beyond frustrated and stressed, I again go home with nothing.
Go back Monday, and they FINALLY have my mail, and I’m missing one of my packages. Cool. Go back Tuesday, report the missing package to Miss Lyuda. “No, it’s been delivered. ‘Delivered in mailbox’ it says on the tracking.” I don’t have access TO my mailbox, they haven’t re-keyed it yet. I have a hold on my mail. “Oh. Well, report it to the police that you have a missing package.” I don’t bother, I’m exhausted at that point.
Go back Thursday, they at last have my key ready, and I have a mailbox full of mail, with my missing package.
At least there’s a happy ending, but what a week of absolute hell.
0 % customer service to the Russian ma’am . She screamed at me I was asking a question and she was so rude I didn’t tell her anything because I’m not like to to talk with that kind of people but I think this person is incapable to do this job because she has to deal with customer
I walked in with my package ready to be shipped and the lady with the blonde hair and a thick Russian accent told me the label was too big and it wouldn’t scan.. I asked if there was any way for me to send it out and she just said no it needs to be printed smaller so I drove 10 minutes in the other direction to a different usps and was helped by a kind lady who struggled with scanning it for about 10 seconds then it worked perfectly. Save yourself the hassle and drive to the one in sugarhouse.
