Traditionally for many years, this post office had a system of lighting a light bulb above the PO Boxes to let people know if the mail had been delivered. This system allowed people to drive in and if the light wasn’t on then they didn’t park and go inside. When I asked the postal clerk why the sign said it was “deactivated”. She replied that she kept forgetting to turning it on and that mail was delivered mostly by 11:00am. I said that wasn’t a good enough reason and I was going to complain. When postal workers Tim and Cindy were working the desk it was never a problem to flick a switch to turn the light on so folks would know the mail had arrived. There are lots of senior citizens plus with the current virus and social distancing you would think this is an effective practice for people entering the Post Office.nI would like to reinstate this practice and Find out who authorized its deactivation.
