Enterprise Rent-A-Car

We reserved our vehicle online. When we got the car, it reeked of cigarette smoke so we had to purchase air freshener to attempt to get the smell out. The car was not clean when we picked it up. The gas tank was on empty. When you raised the hatchback gate, it would not stay up. It would go up and come right back down. We were very disappointed with this rental. The smoke smell was the worst! If the company would start charging these folks credit cards who smoke in the vehicles that are clearly marked “no smoking” then this nonsense would stop. It’s not the first time we have encountered this issue.

*This is for the Enterprise location on Fulton Ave. in Evansville,IN* Only reason they are getting any stars is because we received a BMW as our rental car, but it was dirty inside and out and smelled like cigarette smoke. I spent a good hour cleaning it before we even started packing it for our trip. The staff there is less than friendly or informative. The woman that took care of me during pick up did not inform me that there would be a $200 hold on my account on top of the $468 I was paying for the week until she was in the process of swiping my debit card. It was declined since I didn't have a chance to switch money over from another account(my husband's) to cover the balance. She then asked for another card to run as she couldn't swipe the original card again. After I refused and told her I only had the one card she huffed and puffed her way back inside to manually override the system and ran my card again. Once it went through I was handed the key and told to 'go ahead and go' all I was shown was how to start the car, I wasn't shown how to use any of the controls etc. I feel like that's an issue especially with the type of car I was taking off the lot. When we brought the vehicle back I asked how long it would take to receive my refund of the $200 the guy at the counter said it was instant on their end, but when I called the bank the next day to see if it was pending it wasn't even there. So much for 'instant' on Enterprise's end. We will not be renting from this location in the future.

We tried renting a car locally and was unable to. So Evansville was in our path of travel. They had the vehicle we requested. The rep commented on the stow and go seating during pick up but they were not functional. That was a disappointment as it is one of the reasons we rent the van. The pick up process was easy and they had a drop box for the keys. The van had a strongwomen cologne smell and dog hair. But otherwise was fine. If needed I will rent from them again. The parking lot is extremely small but they move people in and out fast enough its a non issue. And we found another area to park our car.

I made a reservation to rent a truck. When I went to pick it up, the license plate was expired and there was no registration in the glove box. When I asked the sales clerk about it, she said, “I’m sure there’s some kind of grace period.” That was not the answer I was hoping for considering I was about to drive through 5 different states.
