Avis Car Rental

Employee strolled in late to open up shop (our reservation was for exactly when they opened). Was very rude from the start. When we mentioned our discontentment with the late pickup she told us that Avis laid everybody off and she works “12 days a week”. (I suppose that is impressive). Not sure how that was our fault, but I can confidently say I will never rent from Avis again.

This was a terrible last experience.

My go to rental company. Love them.

The worse experience that I’ve ever been a part of for any company. Reserved a Tahoe type truck (specifically Tahoe sized) about a month in advance and was quoted a price. Called a few days prior just to check in and the price was $1500 more. On top of that it wasn’t even a Tahoe (or similar) that was on my reservation, it was a small SUV. The “manager” Chelsea was put on the phone and after about 45 minutes of her trying to figure out what happened, she found out that the employee that initially took my reservation made a few mistakes. So she was going to call “her boss” to see what they could do. I never heard anything back, so for the next 3 days I called and tried to talk with her. She avoided me the entire time. So on the day of my scheduled pick up, they had neither the vehicle that I was supposed to book, or the small SUV available. Every single person that I talked to at Avis in Evansville was unpleasant and I could tell that none of them wanted to be at work. Chelsea has “been doing this for 10 years”, she made sure to say that at least 3 times to me. I don’t see how any of the ones I spoke with work for a company, unless there is zero supervision from higher up. Luckily, Hertz ( Henderson) saved my families vacation and took care of us on short notice. Stay away from Avis at Evansville airport. Bad business.

Reserved a Jeep Wrangler for a family vacation yesterday. I was guaranteed that one would be there for me upon my arrival. I had to get a ride to the airport since they do not allow you to park in their lot and when I got there the gentleman at the desk informed me that there was not a Jeep Wrangler available and that they’d already rented it out. He pulled my reservation and confirmed that I reserved one and said there was nothing he could do. When I said I needed to cancel my reservation he said he could but there would be a cancelation fee. I asked “How can you charge me for a fee for something I ordered that you did not deliver on?” His reply was “That’s company policy and I would have to take that up with corporate.” When I called Avis corporate office and explained my dispute they then transferred me to a supervisor “6 minutes on hold” the supervisor refunded my money however I am now stuck at the Evansville airport with no means of transportation. So when I asked them what they could do to reimburse me for my travel expenses I was told that has to be taken care of through customer service. This turned out to just be another run around where the representative couldn’t do anything and a supervisor could not be reached. I am currently waiting for a call back. I do not recommend this company for anything. Too many hoops to jump through and not willing to stand behind their mistakes nor are they willing to make them right.
