I had a great experience at this Hertz local location. All of the employees were easy to work with and helped me with my concerns promptly. The location is a very easy drive from Route 80 as well as Route 4 and the GSP. The car was clean and they were happy to show us how they cleaned their cars and how they stepped it up due to the pandemic. I would rent cars here again due to how easy it is to access it from New York City, and the staff being very friendly and professional.

Fast, efficient service. Plus the young man who checked me in made sure that everything was working properly in the car. He went above and beyond so that the Bluetooth worked with my iPhone. THANK YOU!!!!

Rental locationn360 River StnHackensack,NJ 07601 USAnnFirst let me start saying that it has been unpleasant experience from the beginning. I am sincerely surprised by high ratings of this location.nnI rented Nissan Ultima and I was supposed to be picked up within 15 minutes of driving distance of Hackensack Hertz location at New Jersey. There were three male representatives and one female representative I noticed at the location. On the phone I was told”we are not picking up anybody due to COVID-19”. I believed them. I had pre-rental upgrade up to the full-size and I was given full-size vehicle on the very first agreement. I was offered cars which smelled like significant secondhand smoke and I had to request to get appropriate smell free car.nAt the time of drop off, I was refused again for ride with in 10 minutes of Hackensack location ( I needed a ride to englewood,NJ.)-A white lady customer who just came right after me, was offered ride after rental return (approx 11.30 am on 11/30/20) right in front of my eyes.nnClearly discriminatory behavior and I pointed that out to the representatives over there who finally agreed to give me a ride after this.First let’s not forget- I would have not known and paid for cab both ways. I actually paid for cab on one way. And cancellation fees for Uber on way back as I was not offered fair treatment.nnUnfortunately I got involved in a minor collision on very first day of rental and I had to exchange a car. I saw rental customers were given rides. Accident was handled appropriately by me and my insurance company including proper formal/legal procedures.nnDespite of my full-size eligibility I was offered compact or midsize only for exchange and I was provided reason that they do not have an availability. I continue to put faith into the location and the representatives over there and I realized when my friend was able to Book full size reservation at same time when I was denied availability.nnI called Hertz customer care who verified that the location does have availability - this is when I started doubting that location and their Professionalism.nnI called Hertz customer care two days in a row to consider for a full-size availability so I can exchange the car since it was not enough for my family. Had to finally request to make a notation in my reservation because every time to I called Hackensack location -representatives would dismiss me. Up to the point that the person who gave me car ( Keith?) mentioned that those Hertz customer care people does not have any idea what car we have and they live in the other part of the world( sarcastic and derogatory for company’s team members ) .This was in my opinion very unprofessional and very dismissive answer as We know customer care clearly has an access to this location’s fleet and I just felt like I was being dumped and dismissed despite repeated request. I had to call and wait for 30 mins in their office in order to get exchange after 2 days of calling customer care when location representatives did not help me and watch making calls to customer care. Finally they gave me exchange after I told them I will have to write a review but it was clear that they did not care as I was discriminated again after drop off for ride.nnThis representative was angry with me for requesting for an exchange which was appropriate for my reservation especially when he downgraded my request despite of being a gold rewards member and continued to dismiss when I walked into location. I felt like instead of helping existing rental customer they gave very unfair treatment. They won’t answer calls after renting especially if your number shows up on display. Same representative also made comment to another female employee “you just have to look cute”. While I ( customer) was standing and waiting for rental agreement.nI have rental agreement # if you would like to verify this info- send me e mail.I am professional, frequent flyer and renter.nNever again after this unfair treatment.

I rented a vehicle from Hertz after being in an accident, insurance paid for the first 16 days of rental. Given the circumstances of the pandemic I had the rental for 60 days. When I returned the rental I was charged a totally different rate that I was not made aware of. When I asked to speak to manager I was told she was on vacation and couldn't help me. I was referred to a Regional Manager that I was promised would call me, they never did. I called the store several times trying to gain clarification with no success and no return call back. When I finally spoke to the manager she offered no help or solution. She told me she had a conversation with me explaining all of this, not true! I will never rent from Hertz again. I suggest no one rent from this company. The communication is poor, everyone that you speak to you explains things a totally different way. Every time I was in contact with this company it was after making several attempts, they will not call you to update you on rental status; The staff in not properly trained
